It could be that the compression rings went bad and getting what is called blow by, or the valve guide seal. if you can get your hand on a compression tester check the compression. you can check the compression by removing the spark plug and inserting the tester I don't know exactly what the psi is but should be at least 100 plus and within 20% of each cylinder. If you find that the compression is low, with a oil can squirt some oil into the spark plug hole that is bad. If the compression rises then it's probably the piston ring if not the valve seal is probably bad. 2006 shouldn't have that problem kinda new. get back to me

it has some kind of pipe that runs from the head to the airbox via a pump attached to the carb.
when i opened the airbox there was lots of oil residue in there... and now it smokes a lot when its running.

it's probably a smog pump of some kind, yes they put them on motorcycles now !!!!!!!!!! darn. still check the compression because the oil should not be blowing into your air box. is the pipe connected to the exhaust?

Nissan cefiro s.touring vq20de consuming a lot of oil and white smoke coming from the exhaust

having a blue smoke no white with a lot oil consumption, means that you have a problem with either valve stem seals got hard and can not hold oil getting in the combustion chamber through the valves.Or your engine bores are worn due to long mileage if you have and the piston rings are not strong enough to hold oil below piston rings in the oil pan. or your piston rings or piston channels broken and oil goes into combustion chamber and burnt through the exhaust system. What you have too do? visit a qualified workshop for a correct inspection and decision taken.Good luck.

White smoke when first starting the engiage

If the smoke stops oncw the engine is started and warmed up its a good indication you have worn valve guides and bad seals. Oil is leaking pas the valves after the engine is shut down and then has to be burnt on startup If the oil pressure stays low it could indicate an engine with a lot of wear or a weak oil pump

My car oil goes down and smoke from exhaust

It's burning a lot of oil. You'll have to have the engine overhauled to fix it. Did it just start smoking and losing oil? Might be a broken oil ring. It is a bluish smoke out the exhaust? That's a sure sign of oil burning.

Smokes when you start up and then stops

didn t say what color smoke --if you start up on cold or damp days and get a small white or steam looking discharge from tail pipe than your burning out/off the moisture that has accumulated in the exhaust system when all moisture gone smoke gone ---white alot- billowy-and doesnt stop burning coolant -water/anti-freeze-leak in coolant or the famous blown head gasket ----black smoke and not a diesel carbon build up and or need tuneup---blue smoke burning oil something in engine is damaged and allowing oil into cylinder and is being burnt

Smokes lots

What color is the smoke? White is coolant and bluish is oil being burnt. What color is the plug from the dead cylinder? Tan is good. You might just have a dead plug and/or wire or you might have an engine rebuild.

CAMROD THROUGH ENGINE BLOCK 2 WEEKS AFTER CAMBELT REPLACED

The garage will say that they only re-built the head and will only warranty that part.
However they have a duty of care to check that their work covers all aspects of the work quoted for.

Note
Problem is that when a cam belt snaps it can drive two parts of the engine together (Valve and Piston Crown) which sometimes you get away with having a new Valve fitted and other times it puts a hole or a crack in the top of the piston.

This could explain your blue smoke as oil is being burnt off down the exhaust as oil is being drawn into the cylinder.

If the oil level gets too low pressure drops and you can get bearing failures which can lead to con rods snapping.

It is not normal for blue smoke to be emitted after a cylinder head rebuild !!

If blue smoke comes out of the exhaust there is oil being burnt off because of a mechanical problem.

If it is a professional garage they may come to an agreement with you , if it is a hole in the wall then your chances of redress are slim

Black smoke from exhaust

This is almost certainly a split hose - mine was the large hose coming out of the bottom of the EGR valve.

Speaking to a parts guy at my local Jaguar dealer, he said that the new part is uprated as Jaguar are aware that this is a problem.

The split allows more air in and results in the ECU changing the mixture and over fuelling - Black smoke is an indication of un-burnt Diesel. As well as the black smoke you may also notice a whistle/whine or sucking noise when you accelerate and a lack of power / lumpiness at around 2000rpm.

Hope that helps!
