Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

We have been enjoying our 50" Pro 1110hd plazma Tv for 4 years with no problems. Last night the screen went blank and there was a sharp snap noise. We cannot turn it back on as it tries to start up and within 2 to 3 seconds it shuts down. Is there an internal shut down device that is turning it off and why? I have checked wiring and have un plugged it from the surge devise with no change.

The large snap indicates that there was a high voltage spark inside the set. Something blew. The set has protection circuits that detect problems and to prevent further damage, will shutdown the set. This unit should see a service center. There is little inside that can be repaired by a homeowner.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

well it sounds like something fried inside the tv. In my experience, this sounds like your y-sustain board went bad. it could be your video board also. considering todays value of the 50" panasonic plasma, it will be cheaper to replace it, unless you are willing to spend around $300 to get it fix at a shop.
good luck

We have a Samsung PS50Q91HDX Plasma Tv which is not quite 3yrs old. Ever since we have had it, it turns itself on & off at random but this is not the main problem. Last night we were watching a show...

This is weird. I also have a plasma 50" model PS5Q91HDX and on the 5/02/11 the screen went blank when my friends daughter was watching a Wiggles DVD. The image kept coming back, flashing a scene or two before going black again. But the sound is perfect.

I wonder what is going on? Is anyone else having trouble with their 3-4 year old Samsung 50" TVs???

My 37" plazma went black

Hello.
Probably not. If sound still there that mean you have problem with sustain board/s and/or higher voltage part of power supply board. If you pay professional to diagnose it properly and fix it it should cost you $150-$175 diagnostics/labor plus about $200 in parts.
I would recommend to invest this money in new LCD or LED Panel TV.
Regards.
Russ.
