Question about Philips Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi, I have a Philips Cineos 9800W. Unfortunately the controls on the front panel do not work. None of the touch sensitive controls work for Play, Rewind, Eject etc. The panel lights up once a button is pressed, but there's no response from the unit. Any ideas anyone ?

Power light glows orange for a minute then shuts down without ever having a picture or sound. I have replaced the lamp and clean the filters. This is a Philips Cineos Lcos 62 inch.

Watch at turn on to see if lamp fires up for even a second or two--if not either a ballast or the control that turns it on has detected another issue and is not allowing the lamp to come on.

Hi Jimmy,

Have you try using remote commander? It seems the power button on your tv is broken. It could be on button pad, or cables connected to it. Can you try check it?

Fpa lock on how do i get this offf

hello Lock/Unlock Parental Controls
Selecting this option lets you lock and unlock parental controls settings
using a password.
If you do not lock parental controls, none of the settings for V-Chip,
Channel Block, or Front Panel Block will take effect.
If you forget your password, press the MENU button, then select Parental
Control
(the password entry screen appears). Simultaneously press and
hold CH+ and VOL+ on the front panel for 8 seconds. Parental Controls
unlock and the Parental Control menu appears. You can enter a new
password by locking the Parental Controls again.
Front Panel Block
Selecting this option lets you block (disable) or unblock (enable) the TV’s
front panel. The remote still tunes to any channel. When using this as a
Parental Control method, remove access to any remote that is capable of
operating the television while you have the front panel blocked.
Don’t forget to lock parental controls after you change the status. If you
don’t, the front panel block will not take effect .if this don't work get back to me i've got manual good luck

Front panel buttons on Philips rear projection do random things

Leaky tact switches on control panel. Part number is 242212802742. Takes 6. They will cost you around 6.00 a piece. Lower front panel pulls off. Be careful as there are two cables attached to htis panel. This should take care of your issues.

What was the model number of the set that has the 7 pin keypad that you are needing the info on? Can you change out the front screen panels so you can use the origional controls for your chassis. If they are both 60 inch you may be able to switch out the front screen and control trims.

Tv turns on and off by itself, volume buttons on controller and panel don't work after while

An all too common problem with that unit is the Ssb or (small signal board, Philips p/n# PH3912725871 located just behind the tuner. It's actually a simple fix for a shop, what we call a plug & play repair but the part isn't so cheap. Last one I did thursday I bought from Vance Baldwin $267.82 plus shipping and core. You get the core back when you return the old part.
You might call a few shops like you know what you're doing and ask what they charge for changing the Ssb in your unit.
Have a great day!
