Most common issue's for not being able to boot PC system.
1. Swap power cord/replace. Check video connection cable,
Check monitor power cable. (Check wall outlet is good).
2. Reset cmos/bios. (Need to use manual for board to reset)
3. (No display on monitor, can hear fan's running & LED's on case light/flash). Remove & re-seat video card, same for memory. (While in PC check all power connections & data cables to devices.
4. Fans not running & no LEDs do not light/flash. Power supply may be bad.

Luck!

My pc doesn t boot from cd driver

If you are using a CD drive, it is probably just too old and can't read anything anymore. Try running an Optical Drive (CD) cleaning disc in it.

Iwanted to reformat my dell optiplex GX270 deskstop. What drivers needed?

Hello,

Download the drivers in the link below, either burn them to a CD/DVD as a Data CD/DVD or put them on a memory stick, sometimes the drivers are compressed so don't forget to download winzip also and put that onto either a CD/DVD or a memory stick.

Basically when you have reformatted your computer put the disc or memory stick into your computer, double click the CD/DVD or memory stick and install the drivers, if there compressed uncompress them with winzip.

However make sure you install the BIOS then the chipset drivers first then install the rest hope this helps.

Will power up but theres no picture

I'd first check that you have the hard drives installed correctly as you can have a primary and secondary drive ect. If you need any of the files I'm unsure but If you don't mind those files deleted you could reinstall windows xp. But from a different computer you could get the drivers needed for xp. Install the operating system xp for example and then from another computer dvd drivers such as network(Probably the most important) you can add those and reconnect to the internet and from there download the other drivers directly (IE video drivers). At least check the hard drive connections to see that they are the way you want them. Hope that helps somewhat.

My cd-rw/dvd drive doesn't register on my computer anymore. I have a dell latitude 110L and i have a nice cd-rw/dvd drive i believe that it can burn up to 20x or 24x speed i'm not sure anymore the exact...

try and roll back the drivers...also another way is to try and boot your machine off the cd drive..if it boots of the drive then you knoie that the drive is working and it is a driver error..if it wont boot off the drive the drive is probablly bad..make shure when trying to boot off the drive that you change your settings in your bios to for to boot from cd..

When I boot up my compaq presario sr1403wm the screen continues to a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top of the screen. If I hit the escape key at the boot menu I can select the C: drive and...

Ok this is simple... You probably have the wrong boot order set up in your bois. Its more than likely set up as your cd rom first and there is a CD in there it can't read or your CD rom/DVD is starting to act up. What I would do is go into your set up at start up; usually its hit f2 or f12 or delete or something to that nature. Then find the area that shows your boot up options or boot order. Put your hard drive as the first booting selection and you should not have this problem anymore. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS MENU BECAUSE YOU COULD MAKE YOUR COMPUTER NOT WORK ANYMORE!!!!

This solution is only if the computer boots when you select hard drive from the boot menu but doesn't boot by itself without you doing that.

Dustin
If you need further advice on this, look it up in your intruction book or your manufacture's web site.

P.S. The quickest fix might be to just take any CD ROM or any USB drive connected to the computer out.

I have put in a 160 gb hard drive into my inspiron 6000, and when i try to boot up from the disc, it says no boot sector on the hard drive ....marian

OK, try this >>>>> Forget the BIOS just for the time being. Restart the laptop and as it starts press F12, this should bring up a boot order screen without having to go into the BIOS, pop the disk in if it's not already and use the cursor key to select the CD/DVD and hit enter. Hopefully it should then try to boot from the CD. If you need anymore help or advice please post back. Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

My dvd rw is not detected

Sounds like you need your manufacturer's SATA drivers.

This problem exists a lot when installing Windows from scratch on SATA hard disks. When you start the installation, Windows prompts you to "load additional drivers". It's at this point you put a floppy disk with the SATA drivers in.

If your install is already working, but just stopped as you say... then you could hunt around the BIOS for a SATA "compatibility" mode, which will get you booting straight away. Install the SATA drivers and you can then put the drive back into normal operation instead of compatibility mode.

This is also the reason why your other hard disk with Windows can see the SATA disk and optical drive... it probably has the SATA drivers installed.
