Question about Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Handle won't fasten itself!

This may sound like a dumb problem but i just bought a dyson 17 absolute animal online for my wife and me and was excited to start using it but Im having a problem. I've inserted the wand and handle into the hose but it doesn't seem to fasten itself so if i pull back on the handle (like you would if you were vacuuming) it pops out. Im wondering if my Dyson is missing a piece or Im missing a vital piece of the puzzle. The manual is no help at all and I haven't been able to get support on the phone yet. Anyone have an answer?
Thanks for the help in advance

I had this same problem. Just got the vacuum on 7/21/08 and was so excited to use it (I know, that'll wear off soon) but the darn hose & handle keeps pulling out. Is this lock thing a clear plastic piece about size of quarter? I agree that the getting started guide is pretty lame. Why isn't this feature part of the setup????

I had this same problem with the hose/handle pulling out when trying to vacuum. I got this on 7/21/08 and was so excited to use (I know, that'll wear off) but I couldn't figure out how to keep the handle locked in. Is this piece about the size of a quarter and clear? I saw one when I unpacked but the instructions to set up didn't include this.

Dear Dyson folks... include this in your instructions if this is an important step!

I'm no vaccum man but my grandmother ran into the similar issue and all that it was, was she was missing the little look pin that you would push to take it apart, hard to explain but where the handle attachs is there a hole in it about the size of your finger nail? if so then there should be on the handle a little spring loaded button kinda deal, this needs to go through the hole. But if there isn't then sorry for the long blerb
