Not sure if you've done this already or not, but I would suggest installing the printer manually as a local printer, and create a TCP/IP port that points at the IP of the Printer. Rudimentary way to go, but should help.

SOURCE: i need to add an ip range to my sonicwall tz 170

This is not directly possible to do with a TZ170 as the device will only allow configuration for 1 static or dynamic IP at a time for the WAN port.

However this being the case, I suggest setting the SonicWALL up as a perimeter firewall and place devices that require the other public IPs form the additional IP range behind the TZ170. Basically the SonicWALL becomes the gateway for the other IPs needed as long as the range of the IP block is contiguous.

This would involve using the 4 ports of the LAN on the back of the TZ170 to connect directly to the other devices or if it is more then 4 devices, using a switch connected to the LAN side of the SonicWALL to provide connectivity to the multiple devices behind it. Most TZ170 are licensed for 10 connections on the LAN side and if you require more then 10, additional licenses will need to be purchased.

I would be careful pushing too much traffic through a TZ170 as it is designed for Small Business use and will quickly become overloaded with too much traffic causing high latency/traffic bottlenecks and in extreme cases connections being dropped. This is especially true for multiple VPNs.

Hi, first u connect the firewall to the Ethernet port using straight through cable. Then set the ip address automatically. Then find the default gateway address from command promt using ipconfig/all command. After that browse the default gateway ip in the browser. you will get the sonicwall login page. Enjoy

Downlaod tz180 firmware

You need to login to mysonicwall.com to download this firmware. Did you create an account at mysonicwall.com and register this SonicWALL in your account? If you haven't you will need your device serial number and activation code, both of which are printed on the back of your firewall.

Check with your ISP for whether they have blocked Port POP3 Port 25 or not. also allow (Open) this port in Sonic Firewall also.

POP3 Default Port 25 but many provider use different Ports so also make sure that you configured correct port.

Firewall as a switch

Yes, there isn't anything wrong in connecting any extra computers on the free ports. Go ahead and plug in your laptop. If it doesn't work, then its the best time to ask here. ;D

Sonicwall Safe mode Problem

How do I access the SafeMode menu?
In emergency situations, you can access the SafeMode menu by holding in the Reset button on the back
of the TZ 180 (it’s the small pinhole button located to the left of the Console port) for 12-14 seconds until
the ‘Test’ light begins flashing yellow. When the SonicWALL is booted into the SafeMode menu, assign a
workstation a temporary IP address of 192.168.168.200 and attach it to a LAN interface on the TZ 180
Then, using a modern web browser (Microsoft IE6.x, Mozilla 1.4+), access the special SafeMode GUI
using the device’s default IP address of 192.168.168.168. You will be able to boot the device using a
previously saved image, or you can upload a new version of firmware with the ‘Upload New Firmware’
button.

My ISP changed the ip address at work where do I change this ip address in the Sonicwall"

Depends which Sonicwall. Do a search on the Internet for the model number and get the user manual. Normally it's a web address in the range 192.168.x.x (i.e. 192.168.0.1)

The standard user name and password for Sonicwall devices should be - admin and password, unless it has been changed of course :)
