Question about RCA 36F530T 36" TV

1 Answer

I have a RCA tv in my house; believe it is a 36 inch. I have been trying for two days to get it working. When I turn it on, I get no power or sound whatsoever. All I get is a small green light on the front panel that comes on for a few seconds, then the tv shuts off. I have no idea what is going on. Also, the cable is screwed in tightly to the back of the tv.

I unplugged the power cord from the tv from the wall last night and plugged it in this morning. It worked beautifully when I turned the tv on. Was this a coincidence or should I still replace the flyback transformer?

I have a RCA TruFlat 36" TV model #36F530T. When I turn the TV on I get no picture or sound but the power light comes on for a few seconds, blinks, and goes out. I have the TV plugged into a surge protector and I unpluged it for about an hour but the above problem persists. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The set has gone into protective shutdown. This is to prevent further damage. The most common part failure is hte horizontal output transistor. This is a 3-legged part attached to a heat sink close to the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out of the top). Try replacing that part.

RCA F36648 36' TV will not power on, makes a clicking sound when I try to power on

This set has a number of problem detection circuits and safety shutoffs. The clinking you are heearing is the power relay turning on then off as a problem is detected and hte set shuts down. This is normal expected behavior when the set has a problem. The most common cause of this is a defective horizontal output transistor that has failed. Expect a parts cost in the $30 range for this repair.

I have an RCA 36 inch tv, the color is messed up, it has a round circle and it will not change channels

If the set wasn't dropped or physically dammaged the chances of it being the picture tube is very small.
The set is probably magnetized and needs degaussing (demagnetizing).
All CRT type TV's have an internal demagnetizing circuit that is engaged when the set is first turned on after being off for the day.
If this circuit is working then you sometimes hear a "bonk" sound (about 1/2 a second long when the set is first turned on. If this circuit isn't working the set will become magnetized over time and will have to be degaussed using a degauss coil available at a TV repair shop (cost aprox. $35.00) and you should have the circuit checked at the same time. A set will also become magnetized if a large speaker (magnet) or motor is close to the TV. Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Picture on 36 inch toshiba tv out

I had the same problem on my 61" RCA TV... The switch for the power/channel changing buttons seems to be a faulty product... However if you are a little technical you can open up the front of the TV and disconnect the button panel from the tv and just use the remote to operate it.

Mike-It looks like the power supply is going on your tv-it can be replaced. This happens, usually, when little kids are playing wth the remote or power button on the tv. Turn it off and on a whole bunch of times in a row, kids love to do that, and it burns out the power supply part- to make a CRT tv like your RCA36 incher- which is a beautiful machine- I have the RCA/PROSCAN 36 incher-LAST longer...You should always wait 5 min between turning it off and on. Don't ever sell it. This one is worth fixing. It has better color and sound Than the new plasmas and lcds-The Pros know this. Be carefull, they might try and talk you out of it-so they can fix it and have it for themselves. So what if it's not High Deff. It's a great set.

TV WON'T COME ON

All the reports are showing the same problem the TV is in shutdown mode.

Something is wrong and it is refusing to start it makes a chirping or clicking sound. Solution is that it needs to be repaired nothing you can do unless you want to try replacing the motherboard yourself.
