When you open the properties window for sound in device manager, what error does it give you?

try going to the manufacturer's website for your computer and download the latest sound drivers

if all else fails you can always buy a new sound card, but lets try a few things first
the more info you provide on the computer, the better I can assist you

I have lost all sound from mu pc!

Check to make sure you didn't unistall/delete or move a device driver. Go to your device manager to diagnose this. If you did delete or unistall it all you have to do is find an audio driver on the web and reinstall it. If that doesnt work try a system restore

I have a new Windows Vista and I need to uninstall Norton Internet Security 2008. I get so far until I reach "The system cannot find the path specified". I cannot get beyond this point -...

Sounds like the an unistall has already run and failed or the unistall files have been deleted. If possible reinstall completely and then uninstall. If none of this works try the norton removal tool found here http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Then follow the instructions

Hi charles. It sounds like a Windows error and not the drives so no jumpers or firmware must be changed/flashed.

Instead try to go to device manager and unistall all the CD Devices. Then you have two options. Reboot and the system automatically installs the drives again.

Alternatively you can scan for hardware changes in the device manager immediately after you unistalled the devices.

Hope this helps.

Solution: boot your system to safe mode and then delete or uninstall the VGA driver in the device manager.

to to this; when booting press " F8" to select the boot mode.

and then after booting; click start , point "my computer" then right click "properties".

click "hardware" tab, "DEvice manager" tab and then in the . click + sign of the Dispaly adapter.

then unistall the driver.

after unistalling restart the system to normal mode.

if the system need and installation driver you should supply it.
