Philips dvdr3575h/37 Initial setup

I posted this earlier but for some reason I guess I pressed the tv category. I hooked up my HDD and dvd player/recorder. I have checked the connections a million times. When I turned it on, no initial setup came up. I have tried manually programming it but the channels will not come up. I can only record the channel I am viewing. It has a digital tuner and no info comes up. It is running through my cable box. This is really frustrating and any assistance would be appreciated. I would like to avoid running it straight off the cable from the wall because my premium channels are not available then and it kind of defeats the purpose. Thanks. OZ

Dvdr3575h Hook up av lines from dvdr video and audio output to a (common, everyday) vcr av inputs, then vcr set to channel av or line 1 or line 2 or channel 00, then vcr input button request av, then coax from vcr to tv, then see tv screen. (or 2, vcr av out av cables to tv av in).

Hdd recorder / recording & watching cable channels

yeah actually that is kinda simple. Like the old vcr recorders you can just put a splitter between the cable (input) and your dvd hdd and your tv.
that is an easy 3 dollar solution

No sound

Make sure the red and white audio cables are plugged into the OUT of the dvdr, and the IN of the tv - and make sure the tv is on the correct source channel. If using a coaxial cable, reset the audio setting of the dvd first, and the tv second if that fails.
