Question about Compaq CPQ/nVidia GEF2MX 200 64M CD Drivers Graphic Card

1 Answer

Modem/driver Tech support suggested I buy a new modem so I did. 4 years later (now) on my dial up it takes forever to hook up and sometimes it doesn't at all. A friend of mine deleted the driver needed to use the original modem. Truth is my original modem is fine, phone company changed way to sign in their hook up number. I need a driver I guess. Very inexperienced computer person here. Any and all help is appreciated. Compaq Presario model #90109-2, System #DK331A,Serial #MXM323 stormie@iowatelecom.net

You should try first the onboard VGA output of your motherboard to be sure if the Video Card is damaged. And to be sure f your motherboard is working. Keep on touch

ATI x600 displaying checkerboard pattern when playing games

Sounds like specific overheating problems that only affect certain game engines or certain functions in them or is may be memory leak that only happens when computer has been running programs for a period of time.

No One Lives Forever uses Lithtech 2.0: Talon engine, however it was later revised to Lithtech 2.2 whose fixes were included in the latest NOLF patch. Make sure you have the latest patch for NOLF.

Freedom Force uses NetImmerse engine.
If possible try if you have same issues with another games with old NetImmerse engine. See list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamebryo#NetImmerse_games

Far Cry uses CryENGINE. Far Cry was actually developed by Crytek as a technology demo for Nvidia display adapters and when the company saw its potential, it was turned into a game. As a conclusion I would say this game is very likely optimized for Nvidia display adapters and issues may be because of ATI display adapter drivers.

If nothing else helps try somewhere with nVidia. ATI has a lot of issues with old games released before or near year 2000, because of its drivers and they do not seem to correct driver issues on old games. When looking nVidia driver release notes you find more often game specific corrections or maybe they just document them better.

HP PAVILLION ZE4900 MONITOR goes 'night vision' green

Just attach an external monitor to it and observe for several minutes while working on it. If the problem disappears, then it's time to check the screen signal cable and/or the screen itself. Only a qualified technician can handle the later except you are one. Good luck

  • Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 2000+
  • NVIDIA GeForce 4 (non-MX) or ATI Radeon 9500, DirectX 9.0c compliant videocard with 128 MB RAM

  • 3 GB of uncompressed hard drive space

  • DirectX 9.0c (included)
  • 4x CD/DVD-ROM drive

Screen going blank for a second or two while video freezes then jumps.

If you have on board graphics try removing video card and reboot when computer rebooted turn it of and refit card and restart when restarted computer should recognize new hard ware and should find the already installed drivers if not try installing drivers again
Sometimes windows does not recognize new hardware until its refitted
had this problem with modems alot and the above method solved it

Display Problem

It is possible, judging by that fact that pressing down temporarily fixes it, that the video cable for the screen (I'm assuming this is a laptop?) has come loose. Pull off the keyboard and try reseating the cable, that may help.
