Go to your local hardware store with one of the screws you do have, and find some that match in size. You might not be able to get the same color, but if you check a few stores you should find something with a similarly-shaped head.

How do I clean dryer squirrel cage?

To remove drum/fan drive motor:

• Remove rear panel & rear air duct. Remove belt from belttensioner. Remove top panel & drum if needed for better access.
• Disconnect terminal connector from motor, then remove two screws from motor mount & one screw holding fan to front shield. Lift rear of motor mount up and slide entire assembly toward rear of dryer.
• While holding motor shaft, not rotor fins, remove fan blade from motor shaft. Remove three screws, then remove fan housing from motor.
• Remove spring clamps by pushing ends of them down and away from motor. Lift motor up from motor mount.

Cage motor is the best blow out with compressed air. Also, by the way, clean the fan housing from the inside.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
The fan should just be a slide on the motor shaft snug fit with a metal clamp. The Blower wheel (fan) when they fail usually crack the center hub and no longer fit will on the motor shaft sungly so it contacts the blower housing as it rotates. That is why you hear all the noise. If the blower wheel / impeller as you referred to it does not fit tightly on the motor chaft then you will have to replace it. It should rotate in a true non-oscillation pattern like a circular saw blade. Any side to side movement during rotation is cause for replacement.

Dryer taking too long tp dry. Removed alot of lint buildup in exhaust system. Does this dryer have a fan and how can I check if it working?

The front of the dryer should be able to come off..maybe with clips maybe a couple screws...first you will need to pop up the top of the dryer with a flat blade screwdriver, then you can look down the front cover to see if there are clips or screws...remove screws/clips to remove front cover and gain access to fan and components...the fan is usually attached to the main motor that turns the drum. you should be able to run the dryer with the front cover removed to see if everything is working.

Can vent kit be from rear of machine

Yes ,a vent kit can be fitted, and is fitted to the rear of the dryer at the right hand side.
If you buy the genuine Hotpoint kit, it comes complete with all extra fittings.

Thankyou.

Kenmore 80 electric dryer fan mounting

You need a blade puller.

It is a tool that grips the fan blade from behind, and as you turn the screw that sits at the end of the shaft it pulls the fan off the shaft.

Never hit the end of the shaft with a hammer, as it can mushroom the shaft end, an prevent the fan from coming off.

You can get a puller from most HVAC supply houses, and sometimes at Hardware stores.

Its similar to a steering wheel puller.

Sock went up the dryer vent

Unplug dryer
on the bottom of the front panel, just where it bends in to form a kick plate, there are two screws, remove them.
  • may be torx secure screws, cut a slot in the head and use a flat screwdriver, or buy a #2 torx secure bit at the local tool store, replace with phillips or flat screws, easier next time
swing front panel forward and up from the bottom, unhook from upper catches, unplug door switch wires
set front panel aside.
dryer vent is accessible, the screen holder comes away with the door.
the sock should be visible in the pipe, it should not have been able to proceed beyond the fan, the space between fan blades is too small
just in case, do not operate without screen fitted, or with holes in screen, as well as sox, lint will build up and block the exhaust vent, dryer will overheat and blow thermal fuse

reassemble in reverse order

You definitely need circlip pliers to get the fan off though.. It's a bit tricky without them. Othere than that it's a fairly easy job.
