Question about HP Photosmart R927 Digital Camera

Open Question

Battery won't charge

Camera is approx. 2 yrs old & won't charge. Even when it showed that the battery was fully charged, the camera would die while trying to take pictures (especially if flash required). Bought a backup battery while on vacation (camera - 1 yr old) & switched out between the two throughout the trip. Then, backup battery will no longer charge. Bought a second backup battery ... worked for a short while & then ... same story. On vacation in January, orginal (HP) battery started having problems & now I can't even get IT to charge. Is this a problem w/the batteries or the camera itself? Was on a different trip (once in a lifetime for me - camera 1.5 yrs old) and the camera would not work except intermittently - had to keep opening the camera, removing battery & replacing it to get any sort of pictures. Missed a lot of great photo ops. :(

HP Photosmart R967 battery won't charge. Actually it charges on the charger and shows fully charged but when I take it off the charger cradle it turns off and will not turn back on. Not sure if its the battery and don't want to spend $50 on another if it isn't. Its just short of 1 year old. Help!

HP Photosmart R967 digital camera battery won't hold charge. It actually charges and works on the charger stand, shows to be fully charged but when I take it off the charger it turns off and will not turn back on. I took out battery and memory card and reset as instructed by HP Manual but still not holding charge. Don't want to invest $50 in a new battery if the battery is not the problem. Helpl.

I got my camera for Christmas in 2007. About a month ago the original battery would not stay charged, thinking the battery was dead, I spent $34.00 for a new one however the camera is still doing the same thing. I charge it and 2 days later the camera will not turn on, I charge the battery and can use it for a few pictures, the battery indicator very quickly shows half charge.

SOURCE: Battery Won't Charge

Hey Guest9,
You can try resetting the camera by removing the memory card and the battery, pushing a straightened paperclip into the reset switch inside the battery compartment, and reinstalling the battery. If this works put the memory card back in. Another option you have is to try formatting the memory card.

Sincerely,
Allan

Try to run self-diagnostics test - press flash button while switching the camera on. One of them tests the flash functionality.

Why does my fully charged battery show only a 1/4 power and only alow me 3 pictures before it dies?

How old are your batteries, and are they Canon brand or a cheap eBay type off brand? Most times we see this the batteries are old and won't hold a full charge or are cheap off-brand ones.

Has the camera been exposed to intense moisture or fallen into water. Water damage can drain a battery quickly.

There is a software adjustment to set the battery inhibit voltage, but you will have to take your camera to Canon as it is proprietary software only they have

also check for bent CF pins

My Olympus Stylus 7030 won't focus and shuts off when I try to zoom.

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

I have 2 batteries but some how i can not charge even i have left them 24 hrs to charge

Digital camera batteries are usually with an external battery charger.
The charger maybe faulty, the charge adapter will have a LED indicator to indicate that it is charging.

It's eight years old now, and if as you say it has had intermittent use, then the battery will probably have died unless charged at last once a month.

My old Panasonic Palmcorder IQ shows a red light in both switch positions-camera and VCR. Maybe yours has red for camera and green for VCR so you could tell them apart. I found that the Panasonic battery that came with the camera was the cheapest kind with the least charging time. I bought other batteries, they were good for a while, but now, many years later, they won' t hold a charge. Since I am only recording inside of my house, I have resorted to using the AC wall socket for power. I have to take the battery out of the camera. I found a power plug-in hole (like ones on cell phones) in the battery compartment. I also found one of these holes on my battery charger. My camera came with a double ended power plug. I plug one end into my camera and the other end into the battery charger. I plug the charger power cord into the wall outlet, and I have power to my older camera. Maybe you can find this double ended power cord at a store or on line.

Did you know that there are 2 kinds of batteries? Some have memories and others do not rely on a memory. The ones with memories have to be fully discharged or they will only charge a little, and keep charging less and less each time they are charged. The ones without the memory can be charged fully without being discharged fully. Check into battery information on line to get more information. Maybe you can get the non-memory kind.
