Phone says memory card not inserted though card is in the slot. then phone was asked card to be formatted it ask for a code i bought the phone 2nd hand what will i do?

To format it on a PC, simply insert it in your PC if you have a microSD slot, or use a card reader.
When you get the Removable Media driver simply right click and press "Format", press Format again on the menu and wait a few minutes. Then try it on your phone.

OK, try Formatting FAT32 On a PC, with an adapter. Then put in camera. Or it maybe faulty, and or the camera cannot "Detect" it properly.. Again sometimes a "Format" will make it work again, anything that was on the card will be erased though by formatting.. If there is data on the card you will need to try and recover with a PC first before formatting. If you cannot format or read on a PC then it is definitely faulty.

security code is a 4 digit or 5 digit (1234 or 12345)...but a much safer way is to take external memory card out of cell (do you have a adapter for the memory card to be read/placed into laptop/pc card reader slot and formatted) if so once placed in slot go to my computer see the drive the memory card is in right click and format......now place the card back in cell good as new.............

You may need to format the card first before you use it.

I was also getting bad format error on my LG kc550. Did a little research (read the instruction book) and if you want to properly format your card to work with the phone you must insert the card into the phone then connect the phone to your computer via the USB cable supplied. Go to "My Computer" and you should see that the phone and memory card are displayed as two separate external devices, when you try to access the memory card your computer should ask you to format it. Click Ok and a Format box will come up, click Ok again and your computer will format the memory card acordingly.

Unfortunatly this resulted in my losing 4gb of space on the card, i dont know wether its based on percentage or a fixed amount the phone needs but if thats the case you will need more than 4GB for your card to be formated for your phone

There Are two ways to format sd card
1) by Phone : Go to Memory card option
Gallery - memory card - option - format
& ur card will be formatted

2) By pc : connect ur phone to pc or sd card reader & right click on removable disk which is your sd card's slot & select format option.
Then it will ask for custom & quick format, select one from them & ur card will be formatted

The memory card for NOKIA and sonyericsson are different.
MMC for NOKIA is micro SD card, or mini SD but for sony ericsson, it accepts m2 card.
