Most modern tv's can scan the channels that are being broadcast over cable and remember which channels are available. It would forget your channel list after power failure. I would recommend trying to find a scan option in the menu some where.

Pioneer PureVision 434CMX purchased from a friend who had it hooked up to a receiver, I just have it hooked directly into the cable box. Great picture, no sound.

The PureVision PDP-434CMX is a Plasma monitor. Speakers are not included in the unit (but were available as an add-on option). You will need to connect external speakers to the TV (soundbar or other type of speaker).

For additional information, see: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Professional/Plasma/PDP-434CMX . The direct link to the technical manual is http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_3424/287687415PDP434CMX_TMv3.pdf . The available third party expansion products are listed here:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_3424/292436230PDP_ESCards_Brochure.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Can I use media receiver PDP-R04U with PDP-436PU display?

You need the pioneer media cables hooked up to the media receiver to the plasma unit itself. each end has 2 different plugs. one has 2 thumb screws and the other is a squeezable end that clicks into place. They MUST be on before you plug in any power what so ever!!!! And yes, other information is being passed through.
