Question about RCA F36668 36" TV

Response to solution

No, they didn't say exactly what parts are bad. If in fact it's the part that you said, do you think the $250-$300 be an accurate estimate?
Thanks for the help!

The infrared sensor to your TV might be bad. It should be replaced. It is an easy to get part, and is cheap to buy from any electronic spare part shops. To access and replace it, you have to pull out the front panel PCB. In fact, you have to open the TV to replace it. The component will look somewhat like this.

My old 32 inch rca f32665 stopped working as we were watching it. no picture or sound and there is a sound coming from the back where the power cord goes in that sounds exactly like a cricket only its a...

The usual cause is a shorted horizontal output transistor. The way this chassis is designed, the supply makes 140 volts which is always on and applied to the transistor. The heavy load on the power supply causes it to make that chirping sound as it keeps trying to start, then shuts down right away.

The h-out is Q14401, RCA part number 237470. A 2SC5148 can replace it.

Your TV has bad solder connections at the set's verical output integrated circuit. It's very common for these connections to go bad because of heat from the part. When the technician moved the set around to hook up your new box, it may have jarred the connections enough to finally cause the existing problem to become more obvious, but he didn't cause the problem. Your set would probably be doing this anyway before long. The good news is that it's just a simple fix. Resoldering the connections should restore normal operation.

Hello
You just report it to sony, or any other websites that deals with spare parts. Give them the exact part number. They will send it to you. I thinks that it is a dual focus type. It is available.

Rca #f27450tx2 won't power on

The TV is on Protect mode. This happens when an internal fault is detected, the clicking noise is not a relay, but the protection circuit that keeps turning off the TV.

Quickly turning TV on and off will not help, the only attempt you can do is leaving the set unplugged for several hours, to drain power from PSU capacitors.

If that does not fix the problem, then the TV must be serviced.

Parts that can commonly give you this kind of fault are the PSU board, flyback inverter, Convergence circuit, and deflection circuits.

On PSU the the big electrolytic capacitors can often leak or blow (they look bulged). In that case the faulty capacitor, or the whole PSU board must be replaced.

On flyback particular attention must be turned to the soldering joints. Components and voltages must also be tested.

On convergence circuits the STK ICs must be tested , reading ohms on the pico fuse at the base of the IC.

All the testing and repair must be done by a technician. Capacitors can release a dangerous discharge even if the TV is unplugged from power.

Parts can be ordered here.

Regards.

G'Day!

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with
troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. The fact that you were able to get past the problem before is an indication that the part that needs to be replaced was starting to go bad. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one
circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need further assistance so that I can help you further.

TV picture goes out after like 5 minutes of being on

Get speakers away from screen, Yes magnetism causes this problem. You must use shielded speakers if they are close to a TV.

Cost?

Hello Exorbio,

As stated the problem is a lack of horizontal deflection. A ballpark figure on this would be as follows (take into mind this is the worse case scenario):

Parts:
1) Yoke transformer (if windings are open or shorted) $50.00
2) Fly-back transformer (if windings are open or shorted ,most likely shorted) $25.00
3) Horizontal Output Transistor (if going bad) $19.95 (sold in packs)
4) yoke capacitor (if defective) $1.49
5) Horizontal driver Transistor (if going bad) $10.95 (sold in packs)
6) Misc parts $20.00

Labor:
$60.00 per troubleshooting hour (standard troubleshooting time 2hrs) $120.00 (total)
$70.00 per repair hour (standard repair time 1hr) $70.00 (total)

Parts Total: $127.39

Labor Total: $190.00

shipping and handling for parts: $55.00

Grand Total: $ 372.39 (This is just a ballpark figure based on the worse case and the straight totals of parts, labor, and shipping costs)

This could cost much less depending on if only one of the listed components is bad.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
