Question about Toshiba Satellite A100-S8111TD Notebook

1 Answer

Power problem I own a Toshiba laptop. I went to plug in my computer and the computer is not acknowledging that it is plugged in. I talked with a few people and it sounds like the plug is bad. I noticed that the cord gets extremely hot. What do I do.

Take the power adaptor to a GeekSquad, they can use a voltimeter to test and see if it's putting out the correct voltage. Otherwise the DC Jack(Where the adaptor plugs in) may have had stress and cracked off the motherboard, meaning it would need service center repair.

No screen display on toshiba M70 laptop

Try plugging in to the external monitor again and toggling the video output using FN+F5 a few times. If it eventually displays on the external monitor, but nothing ever displays on laptop screen after trying this a few times, the issue could be with the laptop screen, in which case you'd want to have it checked by a repair shop:

Toshiba C655 D i was watching a dvd when my laptop just went off, now cannot get it to work, HELP

Is this a battery related error. I have to ask -- sometimes it's not plugged in all the way and you think it's charging when it really isn't.
Make sure it's plugged in, then hit the on button. If it does take you to the proper login screen run a few malware/spyware checks and a AV scan.
If it doesn't take you to the login screen, reboot and once it starts up again press F8 repeatedly until you get the option to run in safe-mode where you can run a few scans to hopefully rid your system of malware...
hope this helps.

certain laptops rely on a battery being present.
Or a battery that holds charge.
i,d suggest refering to the user manual, or go on-line to the manufacturers website.
the laptop may be in hibernation/sleep mode. or require a hard reset.

Can't switch on a laptop

this may be too late for you, but I had the same problem with my old toshiba laptop. The support person I talked to had me take out the battery, leave the computer plugged in and push and hold the on button for 10 - or 15 seconds. She said it discharges something or other and to periodically run the computer without the battery. Sometimes my screen just goes blank on my new computer and this always fixes the problem.

Good luck.

No power

In my searching for another problem, I read a lot of postings about Toshiba laptop computers and faulty power plugs (at the spot where you plug in your AC adapter into the computer). It seems to be some kind of universal problem with Toshiba and I think there was even a recall a while back because of this. I do not know if this is your problem, but it certainly sounds similar.
