The beaters have stopped turning. Sometimes I can get them to engage but it is obvious that something is slipping inside and they are not turning at the appropriate rate. Sounds normal. Bowl motor is fine. How do you get this thing apart? What might be wrong with it?
I have the same problem and I took it apart. I noticed that the beater turners plastic gears are worn out and need to be replaced. wild guess turn beater as you push in to allow the beater to engage the drive, a little like gears meshing. You should be able to feel it lock into the drive.
This will definitely be a problem with the actual beater gearbox unit inside the front and under the top handle of the machine.
I've had my wifes one apart and it was difficult at best to even do that, so my recommendation is to take it back to the shop if it is still in the warranty period.
If not, take it to a small machine mechanic and get a Quote for repair before anything is done as it's quite likely that the repair will cost as much as a new mixer.
I searched for replacement beaters for Blacker & Decker SM-100 type 1 (SM100) electric stand mixer for years. I found the Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixer Replacement Beaters for stand mixers, item 4955, at a large Ace hardware store. They were priced over $16.00, so you may consider buying a new stand mixer. The beaters are the correct length, snap in and grip correctly even though the ends are curved like a half ball rather than flat as the originals. The beaters turns well but I haven't tested them with the bowl because I need to find the turn table that I have in storage. The beater set was design ed to replace parts for Sunbeam stand models 2355-1, 2356-1 and 2360-2.
I found out by marking the shaft and gears with a magic marker that the main shaft that drives the sun gear was slipping. My cure was to drill a 5/32 hole a 1/4 inch down through shaft and drive a 5/32 roll pin through it and it solved the problem. See my picture.
I have the same one, and the turn table has never turned on it's own. from looking at the bottom of the stand, i think the mixers are supposed to turn the bowl, so i just give it a little turn, and the mixers kinda take care of the rest. BTW, i got 2 sets of beaters with mine and i dont know what the second set is for, do you? contact me at [email protected]
if you remove the top you will find a tiny fuse wrapped in a black band
on the left side from the back. It connects two white wires which power
the top-side motor brush. Most likely this needs to be replaced. You
can check by bypassing it with roach clips or a copper wire. Unplug the
machine first and be careful!
If it's just the wire beater attachment, then it's possible it's oxidation from the metal/aluminum. Did you put it in the dishwasher? The manual says not to put the wire beater in the dishwasher. Hope that helps.
