My monitor has been flickering, going snowy, and dark. It reminds me of a t.v thats playing a movie from a vcr, only the cord connecting the vcr to the t.v is loose making the picture snowy. This has started 3 days ago and it gets bad at times the whole screen goes black. The sound and everything else seems to work fine. What is the problem?

here is a old tip your vcr has a snowy picture and has audio.problem is dirty heads if you don't want to take it apart put a movie in and press play then rewind search and let it go. you will see the pic. come back in revese the tape is cleaning the video heads
Ur VCR signal recorded free air throught an DTV converter box?Yes,this cause is normal, because VCR player have no digital tuner on the VCR player by itself,on it circuitries design. If recorded throught pay cable signal.Yes,than ur VCR video head player is dirty needed to be clean.Tries websites like Amazon.com,Ebay.com to buy a VCR video head cleaner vdeo tape.Just play it as normal as a video tape, when the video head clean,VCR will display clean head eject tape now.
I assume the picture after viewing your "certain movie" you have a snowy type of picture with sound? This is because your "certain movie" will have a bad section or worn section of tape & is making the heads dirty. Is there a part of the "certain movie" that gives wavy lines or the picture breaks up? If a tape is constantly used it causes the oxide coating of the tape to flake & dirty your heads. You could try a head cleaning tape although these sometimes do not do a thorough clean.
