Toshiba A55 S1064

Started laptop but only saw "disk read error control alt delete to restart" I tried pushing power button for 10 seconds, no help. Disconnected power and battery, then put them back, no help. Pulled memory then hard drive out then replaced, no help. Did recovery disk and it worked but when it said take out CD and hit any button to continue it went back to Disk read error.....Replace hard drive?? and if so can I use my recovery disk to install programs? it is all that came with my laptop

Sounds like either 1) bad disk or 2) bad motherboard. Replacing the harddrive and restoring using the restore cd is valid and will work as long as the disk is as large or larger than your current harddisk - Fortunately it is also the cheaper of the two options.

You may lose access to the free space on a larger harddisk as the restore cd may restore the old partition information as well as the data.

Emachine E528 Laptop is saying a disk read error occured push ctrl+alt+delete an it will restart

The error that you are getting indicates that the system is not able to detect the Hard Drive. We would need to confirm if the Hard Drive is detected in the system BIOS or not. For that we would need to turn off the computer. Turn on the computer and start hitting F2 key to reach BIOS. On the First page of BIOS it should show you the Hard Disk Drive with name and Number. If it shows all drives and none or not detected then it means the hard drive is not getting detected by the system. If you can open the Laptop and reach the Hard Disk Drive you can try to re-seat it to see if it gets detected. If it still remains undetected, Its time to replace the Hard Disk Drive.

Please try the above steps and get back for any further assistance or clarification

Hi. Every time I turn my Toshiba Satellite Laptop on (A305-S6905) it turns on normal then it goes to this black screen and says "A disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart." I...

The disk read error message appears when the motherboard can't read what is in the hard disk and use it to launch the Windows boot process.
It means that the hard disk is dead and everything on it is lost, including the recovery partition that new laptops use instead of the recovery disks. You will have to replace the hard disk (a quite complicated job that only an experienced person should do) then order a recovery disk from here
https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/serviceUnitVerification.jsp
and use it to reinstall Windows.

I am having problems with my toshiba satelite laptop mod# A55-s306. following error message appears when it is turned on: PXE-E61: MEDIA TEST FAILURE, CHECK CABLE PXE-M0F: EXITING INTEL BOOT...

What you should do is in the following order:
1.Go into bios and load defaults (usually hit F1)
2.Go into bios and set the boot sequence as HDD number 1
3.Go into bios and disable network PXE boot if possible.
4.Now retry
5.No success press F12 and choose HDD as boot up
6.Now retry
7.No success then remove the HDD clean the contacts and reseat
8.Now retry
9.No success open the laptop lid locate which part of the laptop the hdd is located and just give the laptop a tap in that corner and abit of a push (with the laptop turned OFF) Ive successfully fixed 2 of my IBM's doing this.
10.Still no success try changing the HDD and reformating a fresh
11.Still no success i would open the laptop up completely remove the motherboard and oven bake your motherboard and 375f for 10 minutes BUT BE WARNED DO A GOOGLE SEARCH BEFORE DOING THIS!. This method can also repair other faults such as GPU faults, Memory faults..ect.
