Question about Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver

NO SOUND - FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT CHANNELS

I see a few more identical posts. I just noticed that no sound is coming out when I took everything apart recently to put the receiver in a piece of furniture. Help! The unit is only 5 months old....

All, sorry- should have let you know that I went through all of the obvious troubleshooting w/ no success. I ended up doing a Master Reset of the Unit by Holding Down the Tone Control while pressing the Master On button. Then Selecting Master Reset and Turning the Master Button back off. Now all of my speakers work.... needless to say, I am clueless as to why they ever stopped working.

No sound from front left channel

Hi, here is a procedure to discover the source of the problem. No sound from the left front channel can have several sources other than the left front channel itself.
Let's assume, for just now, that the speaker is good and the cable to it is good.
Here is a testing sequence to follow:
1 If you have a CD player connected to it. Put a CD in and put it into play mode.
2 reverse the connectors from the CD player to the receiver. See if the sound moves to the left speaker and stops on the right speaker. Or if it plays fine.
3 If the sound reverses channels, That cable is bad. Replace it
4 If the sound is still not coming from the left channel. Check the connections and cables to the speaker. MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO STRANDS OF WIRE TOUCHING THE CHASSIS OR SHORTING TO THE OTHER SPEAKER WIRE.
5 If there were. Correct it. Shut down the receiver and then after a few minutes turn it back on.
6 If it still does not work. check to see if a tiny amount of sound is coming from the left speaker.
If so, turn the music up and see if it pops back on . If that is the case there is a failed resister on the circuit board that is arcing when you turn up the volume. That being the case, it is time to drop off the receiver to be repaired in the service center.
Hope this helps,
Best,
Mark

Left channels do not work when using surround modes

Ohhhhhh, so it has NEVER worked for YOU and it needed fixing when you got it. That changes everything. And you don't have the manual??

You can find the manual on Retrevo.com. Just register and download it. You're going to need it to make use of this unit anyway.
Make sure everything is connected correctly.

Look it over and play around with it. Speaker setup needs to be done before anything else. Did you get the microphone that comes with it? If not, go to page 23 and start there.

Center channel sound output

Its not working correctly I have a few different types of center channels and they all have equal sound no matter how many speakers are in them. Connection in speaker box is bad or you may have a blown speaker

Right Front and rear speaker do not work proberly.

I ran into the same issue with an AVR 7000 after it had been shipped to me. I took the cover of and found that the left and right amplifiers have a separate power plug into them. when I plugged to "bad" side back in everything worked great.

Hi Zanthena - my Yamaha rx v 2200 is doing exactly the same thing - did you manage to track the problem down? I have had my unit in for repair and the fault occurred again 6 hours after I re-installed it.

Not getting sound from right speaker

How do you have the audio hooked up from the TV set? If its s video or RCA plugs? If it is switch them around and see if it swaps channels that goes out . If it does then the output cable or the jack is bad. If your using an HDMI ir a scart cable. The cable or connections could be bad. Unplug it and reinsert it or while the units on mover it around and see if the audio comes back on.
