My Samsung Blu ray player now reads "noDisc" whenever I put a standard or blu-ray dvd in it and it will not play. Any thoughts?

Players often when the optical pickup in them is either dirty or beginning to fail will first have problems with blu rays because of technical standards are much more refined for the blu rays.

If you cannot play the blu-ray disc, it means the laser pickup cannot play with the precision and speed that blu-ray demands, standard DVD put less demands on the system allowing them to play. It is possible a firmware update might be available to resolve this, if not! cheaper to replace the player than changing the laser pickup assembly.

DVD players can't play Blu-Ray . You need a Blu-Ray player for that .

i think in these modles there are 2 lasers one for normal dvd's and 1 for blueray my stepbrothe plays blu-ray on ps3 all the time and his packed up but normal dvd worked so try checking that or using a disk cleaner (a special disk) and try cleaning the blu-ray disk
