Dark screen I changed the batteries on my ti-85 and the screen was too dark. I lost the manual a long time manual.

My TI-85 used up regular AAA batteries too fast, so I switched to Lithium AAA batteries. With these batteries the screen was too dark to see numbers. In searching for a solution to the problem, I came across your website. I tried "2nd, let go, down arrow" several times. This fixed the problem. My calculator is about 14 years old! I love it, cannot be without it.

TI-85 with new battery is too dark to read.

Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2nd key. Press and hold the down-arrow key for a few seconds to lighten the screen. Obviously, if you go too far, press and release the 2nd key and then press and hold the up-arrow key.

I have a TI 84 plus silver edition. Won't turn

The problem may be due a screen that is too light to see anything on it. Adjust the screen darkness.
  1. Press [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press and HOLD the [UpArrow] to draken screen.
  3. Release the [UpArrow] when screen is dark enough.
You can also connect it to the computer to see if TI Connect finds it. If it does, update the OS to version 2.53MP.

You change the backup battery if the calculator tells you RAM CLEARED each time you turn it ON.
