Printer doesnt come out of sleep mode (Brother... (by 2 users)

hi there
i recently purchased a brother MFC7420 printer. The printer i connected directly to my PC and is set up perfectly as i can print, scan, fax etc etc. However, the minute i leave the printer idle for while it goes into sleep mode...then when i try and send another print job to it...it doesnt wake up....i have to turn it off and on to get it to come out of sleep mode. Have asked brother ..they said to upgrade the firmware....which i tried to do but it says i have the latest firmware...
please advise...

WizI'd be happy to give you the solution to this problem :)
You'll want to go into the menu and choose these options: 1,6, and 2. The final stop should give you the sleep menu.
The printer is setup for a default of 5 minutes. But you can change it from 00 to 99 minutes. To just shut it off, press the Options and Start button simultaneously and that will do the trick.
