Question about Zenith Televison & Video

Open Question

I have a Zenith VRE510HF vcr. When I power it on, the motor on the left spins for a few seconds, then the machine powers itself off. Prior to this, a tape cassette had refused to eject; I removed it by taking off the vcr's cover and easing it out manually.

This seems to be listed under "dvd", but it is in fact a vcr. I don't see how to move it to the correct catagory.

SOURCE: tape stuck in vcr

If the tape is really stuck, your only resort will be to unscrew the cover off the unit and get to the assembly where the tape heads are. You can just simply pull the tape out (carefully). Some of the tape might still be spooled on the capstans or pinch rollers.

SOURCE: t.v. ejecting vcr tape and turning self off after being turned on

If VCR mechanism doesn't load or unload properly, TV will shut off. VCR machnisam in your TV requires cleaning/ service. Spacialy belts and pulleys.

SOURCE: Power shuts off

The problem is the reel sensor or associated cricuitry. I am an electronic tech and could not figure out what was wrong. I replaced sensor and sensor emitter with no change. It was not the micro. I finally gave up and told the customer I could not repair unit. No schematic or parts available from Philips/Magnavox

SOURCE: VCR tape loads and runs about 5-10 sec; then ejects

you need to clean the vcr with a cleaner that you can buy at a store. If that doesnt work then you need to take the 4 or 5 skrews out that hold the top on and look at the motor and gears move while you put a tape in and you should spot the problem pretty quick. It'll be with the round metal wheel that turns the tape.

the letter R could be a fault code to that machine. depending on the deck installed a number of faults could cause it to instantly eject such as its not lacing the tape correctly or the deck as gone out of timing due to wear. the tape run pulses are not being detected due to senser problems .tray switches faulty ...even some thing fallen inside and jamed the deck like a label from the cassette.good luck farr64

My dvd player tray does'nt open when it should and when i insert a disc to play, it only plays for a few seconds then it stops but the disc continues to spin

Hello
The laser pickup unit of your DVD player may either be faulty or dusty. Just put in a cleaning disc into it and play it for at least three times, and check. If it does not help you, the laser pickup unit of your device should be replaced with same type and number. Just check the loading belt too. OK.

check for bad capacitors (make sure its top is not bulged), check for bad step down transformer on unit. one or more of these may need to be replaced, if you are replacing faulty capacitors, make sure they are of same uF ratings, the unit will accept a +/- tolerance difference of 10%

Have you tried any non-blockbuster discs with similar results?

Either the lens is dirty (don't go buy one of those cleaners -- they don't work as advertised), or the DVD drive in the unit is bad or rapidly headed that way.

Samsung DVD/VCR

It means that it is adjusting the sound from mono to hi'fi... probably because the tape is dirty/damaged or (more likely) the unit needs to be seriously cleaned. Try a cleaning tape, and if that doesnt work have a shop clean it.
