The KX-TGA642C is a handset for the KX-TG6421 series phone system. (These are sold as the KX-TG6422 or KX-TG6424, depending on the number of handsets in the initial package.) To record a greeting message, make sure that the phone (all handsets) is in standby. Then press Menu on a handset. Press # 3 0 2 (or use the Up/Down arrow keys to navigate to Ans Device > Greeting > Record Message. Press Select to each menu/sub-menu section.) Highlight Yes and press Select. How do i record a greeting message?

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Phones-Fax/Telephones/Expandable-Systems/model.KX-TG1033S

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG1032.pdf

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 26 of the manual for detailed instructions on how to operate the answering system on your phone.

Basically that section of the manual reads as follows:

Greeting message

When the unit answers a call, callersare greeted by a greeting message.
You can record your own greeting message or use a prerecorded greeting message.

Recording your greeting message.

You can record your own greeting message (max. 2 minutes and 30 seconds).
If you do not record a greeting message, a prerecorded greeting message is used.

1 Press the MENU button.

2 Scroll to ANSWERING DEVICE using the up and down arrow keys and then press OK.

3 Scroll to RECORD GREETING then press OK.

4 After the handset beeps, speak clearly about 20 cm (8 inches) away from the microphone.

5 To stop recording, press the OK button.

6 Then press the OFF button.

Using a prerecorded greeting message.

If you erase or do not record your own greeting message, the unit plays a prerecorded greeting message for callers and ask them to leave messages.

Playing back the greeting message.

1 Press the MENU button.

2 Scroll to ANSWERING DEVICE using the up and down arrow keys and then press OK.

3 Scroll to PLAY GREETING then press OK.

4 Then press OFF.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

HI! How do I change the message on my phone?

You can record your own greeting message (max 2 mins & 30 secs). If you don't record a greeting mesage, a pre-recorded greeting message is used & asks the caller to leave a message. (Make sure your phone has the correct date, time, year, etc.)

To record a message:

1. Menu (OK) the "Answering Device" (OK), the "Record Greeting" (OK)

2. Then after the handset beeps, speak clearly about 20 cm (8 in) away from the mike.

3. To stop recording, press (OK)

4. (Off)

Need directions on changing answering machine message

To record your own personal greetting just do the following:
1. press and hold greeting.
you will hear a "Record Greeting" and confirmation Tone
2. Record your greeting. The counter will count down from 30 to 1 second so you have a maximum of 30 seconds.
3. When you are finished with saying your greetting, press "greeting" or "play/stop" to stop recording, so your callers don't have to wait forever until they hear the beep so they can leave u a message.

That's it. Pretty Easy. You could also do either of there choices:

1. Hitting greeting also allows you to switch between preset greating or your personnal greeting.
