How do I connect a Marantz av8801 to a Marantz sr7009

The 8801 is an 11.2 channel AV preamp/processor. The SR7009 is a 9.2 channel receiver that includes both preamp and amplifiers.

The 8801 handles an amazing 11 channels of audio, but you can only use the SR7009 for 7.1 input channels. (Does anyone really need 11?) Unless you have some extremely demanding audio requirements, you would probably just want to use the SR7009 by itself. You can't fully utilized the 8801 as a front end (pre/pro) so I'm not aware of any benefits to connecting the two of these together.

How do I connect monitor speakers to my Behringer UB2442FX Pro?

In any 'connection' question there are at least two participants and specific answers require specific details. WHAT monitors?

The manual for the known part of this scenario is here.

Since it's not an amplifier you will need one before you can consider connecting speakers.

You should follow the manuals for the unknown parts, too.

Got a Nakamichi AV-2 receiver at a garage sale, no manual however. Can I use it to power a 5.1 surround system for home theatre?

I could find only little information about this receiver, but it seems that is supports only 4.0 Dolby Pro Logic.

Sherwood reciver R-325 turns on and then truns off will not stay on. speacker are fine dose it with out anything hook to it.

dont know your lvl of expertease but sounds like a speaker fault protection
when you say with out anything hooked to it you do mean wires coming out the back for the speakers correct ?

is the volume controll digital or manualy set ie "analog"
turn volume all the way down try powering it on again
if it still goes into protection mode with out the speakers hooked up
you have probly blown a mosfet or a diode out or a capacitor has gone bad
"this is where you should seek a profesional service tech."
or you can » tear it apart and visiualy look at the mosfets (remove the metal retainer bars)

look at the tops of the electrolitic capacitors for bulging or broken cross marks (dose the unit smell like ****) key note to a blown cap
smell it for a pungent electrical burnt smell you will know it if you smell it
if you smellt it you blew a mosfet or othere simiconductor.

my experince has taught me to replace the whole channle bank if one has gone bad since the rest will pop off once you replace the bad component.
if it is a polarity diode for the channel you can safly replace just that pair

if you want to chance it you can bypass the safty relay (listen for the tick when you power it on) to identify the relay thy are usaly black ,blue or white 1/2" wide buy 1 1/4"long 1" high approximatly
and in the1/4 quadrant area of the power cord
there are two ways to bypass this relay
1) jump accross the ac side "always on" unplug to power off
2) apply proper voltage to the hot lead of the coil side "requirs a jumper"
thus when you push the power button the relay cant and wont turn off untill you push the power button again safty mode bypass
some modles requir you to cut the lead going to the relay hot/positive side
to obtain proper on/off operation

you know im not shur witch way has the on off effect do the simpler ac jump and try that first if you get on off effect from the power button your done.

note: you will not have any thermal, load short,or electrical failur protection
if you bypass this relay but it will however turn on and work again if all the posibly failed components are good for the output system
CATION!! ADVISED the risk of a fire is posible in doing this modification

My yamaha htr 3750 said check sp wires then turned off so i unplugged all the wires then tried to turn it on but it turned back off after 5 seconds

Your Yamaha is going into protection model.

This mostly happens when:
1). There is rise of internal temperature.
2).Core wires of the speakers are touching each other or a core wire is sticking out of the terminal and touching the set's rear panel or the speaker itself has a problem.
3). Speakers with an impedance other than specified are being used.
4). the set is damamged or has bad solder / dry solder connection .

Just check your speaker cabling again. Make sure that all of them are seated properly, none is touching each other or the body of receiver. Rewire if necessary..
Are you using banana plugs for connecting speaker or just directly. Some times even a little tiny frayed wire touching the receiver could trigger the protect mode. Be careful, since protect mode is sometimes not fast enough and it could blown a few trasistors in the power circuit.

If everything else seems all right and still your receiver shut down then it possible that
1).there are bad connections on the main board that are set in.
This would generally happen if the system is slighly old or have dry solder. This should be a simple repair that will not require parts. If you can solder, you will be able to repair this yourself. I could guide you a bit. If not, then a local service center will change the local labor rate.
2). Some transistors have blown on the output power board:
This will require little bit of more electronic knowledge.

I suggest if your set is still under warranty, then please take it to Yamaha.

Hope you can sort out your problem with the above trouble shooting. Let me know if I can guide you further.
Thanks for using FixYa!

All of my speaker applications and drivers for my laptop (Compaq Presario C300) seem to be working, but I'm not getting any sound out of any streaming media or music files using RealPlayer or any other...

It turns out that the problem happened to be an overlooked error: the Wave Synth meter in the volume panel was muted, thus I was getting feedback but no noise. My problem is fixed now; hopefully I don't make anymore simple mistakes like that again.

Akai 4000s Wind Synth

This is a common fault - faulty capacitors in the power supply section need replacement. Low and noisy voltage rails are stopping the Akai initialising properly.

Please rate the assistance given - this should enable you to fix the problem.
