This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp (and Sharp-made Dacor / Wolf) models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample drawing for a typical damper assembly.

We have the applicable service manual here and the parts list here.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

Sharp microwave r1870 only runs for 59 seconds

If it consistently runs for exactly 59 seconds, and shuts off, it's probably the control panel.

If it runs approximately that length of time, you might have a defective thermal protector on the magnetron, or the magnetron is running too warm for some reason.

Microwave stops after 59 seconds

Check that a "favourite" setting has not been selected. The unit may think that is the time that you want to cook. Im not sure about your model but see if there is any clear or cancel buttons to clear any pre programmed selections. If not, unplug the machine for 15 minutes to reset the controller and try it again.

OUR AMANA Radarange. Has there been anyother complants on this unit. Any help would be appreciated. Any sugestions on whats wrong? If we try to use the microwave for more than 1 minute it shuts down in...

Hello,

the unit has developed a power fault. This issue is related to a power problem in as much as the unit turns off on it's own.

The problem is consistent with overheating on the power supply board of the unit.

The power supply board of the TV has few capacitors and IC. If any of these IC's gets short or become weak, it can cause the unit to turn off on it's own.

When current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of unit. The current also goes to the weak/faulty part, then the current stops or slow and the board overheats and unit shuts off on it's own.

It might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you. Power surge, irregular power supply, excess power supply, etc can affect the unit thereby making it to behave this way.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter and continuity tester in order to read the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store withing our vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.
