Assuming this is a desktop and when you say you can't access it because of a password, there is a solution. -Unplug your computer -Press the power button to release all power in the capacitors -Open up the case -Ground yourself by touching the metal case but not the board. -Look towards the edge of the mother board, there is usually a button or a jumper (a set of two pins with a black piece of plastic across them) -Press the button or remove the jumper -Plug the computer in and start it
You should be able to access the BIOS now. Once you finish, replace the jumper if needed and you are clear. You might want to reset the password in the BIOS while you are in there though.

The onboad NIC card is not recognised by device manager when I reinstalled windows xp SP2. I've downloaded the correct NIC card drivers for a presario SR2020NX directly from their website. When I look under other devices I believe its showing up as an "Unknown Device".
