Question about Dell Dimension 3000 PC Desktop
After i turn on power black screen apears with white righting it asks for a password that has been forgotten or unknown have tryed taking out battiery and not helped been on dell help line and nothing no 1 can help
On the motherboard, very close to the battery, there should be several pins with a jumper on two of them. One set may be marked "reset Bios password", or just "Reset", which will discharge the BIOS capacitor.
Remove the battery first, then move the jumper to the Reset pins for a second or so, then move the jumper back to it's original position and replace the battery.
When you power up the computer, the Bios password should now be empty.
If you cannot find these pins, try leaving the battery out and do not turn on the computer (I know this may not be possible) for several days to allow the capacitor to discharge.
