Ge Telephone Solutions Handset can not link. • If any handsets become inoperable, place it on the main base
cradle for 20 seconds to re-register. No dial tone • Check or repeat installation steps • Make sure the base power cord is connected to a working
electrical outlet. • Make sure the telephone line cord is connected to the base unit
and the modular phone jack? • Disconnect the base from the wall phone jack and connect another
phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone on the second phone, the
problem might be your wiring or local service. • The handset might be out of range of the base. Move closer to
the base. • Make sure the battery is properly charged (for 16 hours). • Ensure the battery pack is installed correctly. • Did the handset beep when you pressed the TALK/CALL BACK button?
Did the in use indicator come on? The battery may need to be charged. http://www.home-electronics.net/ge/pc/IB/25922GE2_IB.pdf
press "mute" key to access menu, press the up or down arrow key labeled "caller ID- volume" until you get to "handset setup", press the "mute" key again, press the down or up arrow until you have "defaultsetting" selected, press "mute" key, press "1", then press "mute" once more. At this point your handset will reset clearing the indicator for all the handsets. I've had to do this twice on my phones and it worked every time.
What worked for me was to call my phone from another phone and leave myself a voicemail. I then went in and retrieved and deleted that voicemail. Once I hung up from my voicemail service my handsets reset about 10 seconds later.
Here are the instructions and a link to the manual :
From the Handset Setup Menu:
1. Press the caller ID-volume ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to the KEY TONE sub-menu.
2. Press mute/program button to enter the menu. SET KEY TONE 41ON 2 OFF shows in the display. The default setting is 1ON.
3. Use the touch tone pad on the handset to select 1 or 2, or use the caller ID-volume ( 6 or 5) button to scroll to your selection.
Here is a link to the manual for you :
"Our phones worked fine for two weeks but now you can not dial out and when someone calls us they can't hear we say. The line still works fine with our old phone."
To fix the problem, I simply unplugged the base AC plug from the outlet, waited about 15 seconds, and then plugged it back in. Both handsets said searching on the display and then handset names returned to the display as originally programmed. The phones returned to operation as normal.
