Carrrier Central heat and air. Model 38CKC042300, Serial 4101E7590, Prosuct 38CKC042_ _ _301_ _. Woke up to hot house. Fan running but compressor outside isn't. Cool on flashing in thermostat window when I turned it off and on. Now just says "cool on." Cleaned thermostat with compressed air can (worked last time - 5 months ago) and turned a/c back to on. Nothing but fan will run. Checked fuse panel and found tripped breakers. Reset, heard compressor start, and then the a/c breaker tripped again within a couple of seconds. Tried it again with same results. Left it off. Of course it's Sunday. Any hope???

Unfortunately no, this is one of three things.
1. Compressor is worn and is starting to pull to many amps to operate. Can possibly be fixed by putting a hard start kit on the unit, but will have to be done by a technician.
2. Compressor has an internal short and will have to be replaced.
3. Fuses bad or under sized. Max fuse size is stated on information plate on outside unit.

Sorry to hear about your troubles and hope you can get it fixed soon!

The fan on one my central heating and air unit won't come on? It was working fine when I went to bed at 1:30 in the morning and when I got up around 7:30 this morning it wasn't running anymore. My house has...

Running the equipment on 72 degrees would cause the compressor and fan to work harder on hot days. This will definitely place more strain on your capacitor. These capacitor problems usually happen on the hottest days. I would suspect the capacitor, not the fan. I'm an HVAC tech, so I would Check both with my multimeter

Electric bill doubled last month, and we've had the Powerstar AE125 tankless electric for over a year. There are no leaky faucets.

There are a lot of other things that eat electricity. Like space heater and using ovens for heat. Heat pump.Central heat fan running all the time. House lights left on. Outside flood lights. Clothes washer using HOT water. Look around real good. It all adds up. Also the power co. may be charging more for "fuel" costs surcharges. Here in GA I'm paying a bit more now to pay for a nuclear power plant.

I have a ac central unit that has freon put in it, but it still blows out hot air inside the house.

Need a bit more info. Do you hear the compressor come on? Is your Tstat in the cooling mode? Shut it down for a minute and turn it back on. you should hear the indoor fan come on . outside fan come on and the compressor come on the sametime as the out door fan comes on.. Freon is just a gas that is used to exchange heat .

I have a Rheem Heat Pump unit. This winter, the outside unit fan at times trips off, but the inside unit keeps running continuously. I woke up one morning & it was 62 in the house. The inside unit ran...

Dear Friend!

Due to very low ambient temp, the fan will not run. Once the pressure build up, it's automatically run for some time and again cut off. But if you keep Heat mode and still tem not raised in your room means the reversable valve not working and hence the compressor and out side fan also will not work. Keep "Heat" mode and temp setting +29 to get better heat. Hope is it helpful?

I recently had my capacitor on my a/c unit replaced and now it is just blowing out hot air the temp in the house reaches up to 89 with the a/c on auto run what is the problem

Hi, I don't know what kind of unit you have, but I will go with a central heat and air. If its blowing room temperature air, the outdoor unit isn't running, or the compressor isn't on. You may have lost the run capacitor again. If you do have the outdoor unit, go look to see if the fan is running, and listen to see if the compressor is on and humming. If the fan is on, the compressor is off if you have no cooling. You can remove the control panel if you are inclined to do this, and you know the dangers of electrical shock. Turn the breaker off first, and look at the capacitor to see if it is swollen up, leaking oil or deformed. If so, that's the problem. This would be the first part to replace. You may have lost the compressor also. You do need to check these things, breaker, fan, compressor as this is what gives you cooling along with other parts such as the condenser motor, and check the run capacitor Please keep me posted by leaving a comment I can check, and please rate me on this as I know you will be kind. Get back to me so I can help you find the problem.

Central air conditioning blowing out hot, not

Can you tell if your outside unit is running (the fan and compressor)? Sometimes it is hard to hear the compressor for the fan. If they are running then you possibly have a low refrigerant charge and need to have some added. Refrigerant pressures and temps can be checked to verify this. If they are not running then you need to find out why. If both the fan and compressor are not running then first make sure all the breakers and disconnects are closed. Then a bad contactor or capacitor could be the problem. If its just the compressor that's not running then it could still be the capacitor or maybe the compressor.

Central heat does not blow hot air, just warm air weakly

Sounds like some of the elements are not working. You being in Florida they may not have put very many elements in. It was 61 degrees last week. I know because I'm a Dolphin Fan. You will need a current sensing meter to check the elements.
