Another solution is to get your computer connected to the internet for to install the components that makes it work. This is my experience using it with windows XP operating system. If the installation completes the computer will recognize it and it will charge and you can view your files. And be patient with the device as it took me some patience to understand this. Alternatively use it on a system with windows 2000 even without the installation, my experience was that it works.

You have to put it in hold then hold down the center button. while holding the center button plug the usb cord (usb should already be connected to comp) into the sansa. then release center button.

Computer doesn't recognize MP3 player -

I think I have a solution. First you turn on the MP3 Player and then go to the menu. Go down to settings. Then, go to USB. Go down to "MSC" and hit the middle button. It should take you back to the settings menu. That means you successfully changed that setting. Now plug the MP3 Player back into the computer and open up "My Computer." It should show up. I hope this helps!

I had the same problem, all you have to do is first turn on the Mp3.Then go to settings. Then go down to USB mode. It will probably say, auto detect. But instead scroll down to MSC. If that doesn't work try MTP.

Computer not recognize

I got it fixed....I got looking further into your trouble shooting stuff and found people that had the same problem, but here is what fixed mine and was one of the solutions another person had when I was looking :

I went to Settings on my MP3
Then to USB Mode and changed it from MTP to MSC and hooked it up and my computer recognized it right away. I don't know what the difference is but it worked.

Thanks, Rhonda
