Question about Onkyo TX-NR801 Receiver

TX-NR801 panel connection

Thanks Accordianman. Is there a internal diagram of the unit that shows what each parts are? What tools if any would I need to reconnect the panel connection on the back of the receiver? Thanks again.

Basic handtools should be available, as well as having soldering tools. No, I'm sorry, there are no schematics or drawings that show what and where the parts are due to the same cabinet being used for several different models and power ratings. Go ahead and spring for the tech info from the MFGR. Common sense and some mechanical aptitude would be what you need for a clean R&R.(removal and replacement)...accordianman

No sound from a Tx-sr808

Hello,

I would advise to start with a reset of the unit. Immediately after the reset go into the level calibration menu of the receiver. In that menu if you are not getting test tones from the receiver then it would either have to go in for service or be replaced. Thanks, FM9

I need hdmi with ARC to go to Tv. This amp has no hdmi what converter or ??? do I use.

Hello Arthur, This unit does not have ARC because just as you said it does not have HDMI. Your only option is to use an optical cable from the TV to the receiver. Thanks, FJD

Gold version Onkyo Tx875 amp

What country did these units come from? Video specs are different in various places in the world. NZ uses a format called "PAL", then there is "SECAM", used in some parts of Europe, (most notably France) and then there is NTSC, used in Japan, US and S. Aisia. Also, I need to know you video source and format...accordianman

Center speaker

I had the exact same problem. In order to "almost" balance the center with the other channels I had to give the center +12db gain and the other channels -12db. So after I got that far with level calibration I tried some tv sound, well the center although was playing sounded like the highs were missing and a bit distorted. This is the good part, I turned the volume all the way up real fast, somewhere near max something fixed itself, the center became very loud. Now it works just like new. Hope this helps. BTW, the problem existed the same for sub channel, so when the center started working so did the sub.

Onkyo tx-nr801 net tune setup help

Below is the sequence that I made it work

1. download the latest firmware for tx-nr801 and net-tune central software at Onkyo website as shown below:
http://www.intl.onkyo.com/products/net-tune/download/index.html
Click on "User Identification" at the bottom
(You'll need the serial number shown at the back of TX-NR801
to download it)

2. disable firewall in your PC or notebook and start
updating the firmware for tx-nr801
If firewall can't be disable, you probably can't go through this.
This step takes about 30 min.

(There is a document showing how to do this with the download)

3. keep disabling firewall in your PC (notebook) and install net-tune central (there is similar document describing the procedure too)

4. By pressing Net-Audio on remote controller (it can switch between mServer and iRadio fucntions if you keep pressing this button)

Power shuts off when I try and turn the volume up on the center channel. Center channel volume is very low and i can barley hear it. any suggestions?

Verify that you don't have a bad speaker in the center enclosure. Any change in there will cause an "impedance mismatch".  ...accordianman

Rear left channel not working on Onkyo NR801

Sounds as if it's time for a shop visit, unless you want to try this yourself. The panel connection on the rear of the receiver, or the protection relay have apparently come loose from the circuit board. It happens sometimes when stress causes the cabling to pull on the back of the unit..accordianman
