Mini wireless mouse not working

Hi,
I just found a small USB wireless generic Chinese mini mouse in my old office stuff and connected the receiver to the laptop and pressed the small button. the LED blinks but the mouse movement doesnot move the cursor. Does this need a battery replacement? I thried to open by unscrewing but the top wont slide out.
ALso there is a small button underneath the mouse called "ID"
How do I make it work

Well typically with wireless mice you must press both bottons on both the mouse and the connecter...then after pressing both buttons restart you computer...you computer might not recognize a new piece of hardware right after being turned on. Also make sure there isn't software that needs to be installed there normally is with usb wireless mice. If this does not work please post a comment and I will help you futher. If this does help please be kind and return the favor of giving me a fixya! rating have a good day!

Hi my mouse has worked for years. I just changed the battery in the mouse and now it will no longer work. The jump drive turns red when I push the mouse up to it then nothing happens. I went to Control...

From your description, it sounds like the wireless connection between the mouse and the USB receiver (jump drive) isn't resetting. Here are the steps to reset the connection after changing batteries:

With the computer on, mouse on, and receiver installed in the USB port...
1. Turn the mouse over and aim the front at the receiver, like this:
thomascha103_8.jpg 2. Press the "connect" button on the bottom of the mouse. It's small and round, next to the power switch.
3. Then press the "connect" button on the receiver
(the connect buttons always have to be pressed in this order)
4. When you press the button on the receiveer, the light will turn on. Keep the mouse pointed directly at the receiver until the linkage is complete and the light turns off.

That whole process has to be completed in under 60 seconds. If it takes longer, you'll have to start over.

At least, that's how it works for me. Here's a link to the user manual with other helpful troubleshooting tips:

Keyboard does not type

If all the keys on the keyboard have stopped functioning follow the instructions below to reconnect the keyboard.

This problem is likely to be a lost connection. The connection between the mouse and the USB mini-receiver or the keyboard and the USB mini-receiver can be lost due to several reasons such as:
  • Low batteries
  • Moving the USB mini-receiver from one USB port to another
  • Moving the USB mini-receiver to another computer
  • Plugging the USB mini-receiver into a USB hub or other unsupported device such as a KVM switch (your USB mini-receiver must be plugged directly into your computer)
  • Using your cordless mouse/keyboard on metal surfaces
  • Radio frequency (RF) interference of more powerful wireless devices such as:
    • Wireless speakers
    • Computer power supplies
    • Monitors
    • Cellular telephones
    • Garage door openers
Eliminate any problem sources mentioned above that might be affecting your devices.

Follow the procedures below to reconnect your mouse and keyboard.
  1. Make sure the USB mini-receiver is directly and securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer.
  2. Make sure the mouse is turned on. The on/off indicator on the bottom of the mouse should be green. If the on/off indicator is not illuminated, press and hold the red connect button on the bottom of the mouse until the on/off indicator is green.

  3. Press and release the red connect button on the underside of the USB mini-receiver. This will broadcast a signal to your mouse. This broadcast will last only a few seconds, so you must perform the next step quickly.

    Red Connect Button
  4. Quickly press the red connect button on the bottom of the mouse for 1 second, then release it. The power indicator will flash briefly and then turn green. The mouse is now connected to the receiver.

Red Connect Button NOTE: Holding down the red button on the mouse for more than 2 seconds may cause your mouse to turn off instead of connecting. If this occurs, start again at step number 2.
  5. Move your mouse to see if the cursor moves. If the cursor follows the mouse movements, your mouse is now connected.
  6. Press and release the red connect button on the underside of the USB mini-receiver. This will broadcast a signal to your keyboard. This broadcast will last only a few seconds, so you must perform the next step quickly.

    Red Connect Button
  7. Quickly press and release the red connect button on the underside of the keyboard.
    Keyboard Connect Button

  8. You will hear a short beep. The keyboard is now connected to the receiver.
  9. Test your keyboard to see if it is working. If the mouse now works but the keyboard still does not, see Knowledge Base article 9144.

Hi, I had the same problem. The USB device has what appears to be a circle with dots connected to it facing the port. The dots are actually the word "Connect" in infintessimally small letters. Plug it in, then use your thumb to press down on the circle while using another finger to press up on the device's underside - in effect, squeeze it between your fingers where the circle is. You'll see a red light blink. At that point you can push the "connect" button on your mouse and it will work.

Wireless mouse does not work after changing batteries.it always has in the past The Dell computer and mouse is probably 8 years old but has always worked.

Try moving the mouse receivers usb plug in to another port. Unplug any new devices and restart computer. Then replug in any new usb devices.
If still not working.......
Look at Office Depot and other office stores for a replacement wireless mouse. I have seen them as low a $9.99 on up. You might even want to upgrade and get a wireless mouse and keyboard set.

I had all the same problems listed in fixit and found that all it took was placing all NEW batteries in the mouse.
Press the blue light button on the USB and the little black reset button on the bottom of the mouse at the same time. Worked good from there on.

Hi. My Belkin Mini-Wireless Optical Mouse has stopped working. The batteries are fresh but no curser working - any ideas? Rgds

Please connect the mouse to another computer to rule out if the device has failed. If it works on another system you may be dealing with a messed up driver. Please comment this posted on your test results to receive the best answer.

Wireless laser mouse stopped working. KB OK. Tried Everything

Hi,
Under the mouse near the optical lens there should be a small connect button, press that and the button on the receiver too.
Also make sure the batteries in the mouse are new or fully charged.

Normal 0 Disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB port, do so and it should work.
