Menu key is to left of trackball, select with trackball, scroll to manage connections icon, select with trackball, will give you an option to turn on phone.

Go to Manage Connections. At the top, it will say "Turn All Connections On". Select "Mobile Network" not bluetooth unless you are using it currently. The phone should start working.

SOURCE: Can't "turn radio on"

if the radio has been turned off, there should be an icon saying 'turn wireless on'.

typically it will be towards the bottom of the handheld.

if that doesnt work, try a powercycle. remove the battery and reinstert it. try going into options>mobile network> network selection (change from automatic to manual) and select your network....

The radio on my phone wont' turn on

If the radio won't turn on it generally means it is not within coverage or the phone's account is deactivated. Take the battery out and leave out for 2 minutes. Put the battery back in and the radio should come back on. If it does not then go through the menu to bring the radio back online.

You can also try this:

These phones are also known to have issues if the sound is turned on for some reason, try turning the sound off and back on.

I can't send a text because my "radio" is off. How do I turn it on? I can't figure it out..ugh!

theres an icon that looks like an antenna called connections. click it and turn your network back on........but remember that the blackberry will turn the radio off when the battery gets too low but the device will still be on, just without the ability to call or txt.
so make sure you have a decent charge, click on the icon and select the voice network to turn it on.

GOOD LUCK AND PLS RATE THIS POST!!!! :D

My blackberry is on but I cannot make any calls or receive any calls. It says that the "radio" is turned off. What does that mean?

on the home screen (the one with all the icons - messages, address book, and so on) scroll until you find an icon that says Turn Wireless On. click on this icon to turn the wireless on. if your battery isn't charged enough, it may not allow you to turn the radio on, which means you would need to charge it to allow the wireless radio function to work.

  2. Remove the battery (while the device is still powered on).
  3. Remove the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card.
  4. Reinsert the SIM card and the battery to reset the BlackBerry smartphone.

Radio keeps turning off

I had this problem last year ... very annoying to say the least.
It turned out to be my battery, it's was saying charged but was not.
I know it sounds far fetched but try switching with someone elses battery, or grab a new one in the store to try for a minute. You may also be able to try using your phone while it is plugged in. If the battery is not too far gone this will work to prove the battery is the issue.
It worked for me and I have heard of others having the same success by switching batteries. The girl that figured this out for me told me these batteries are not meant to be charge for long periods of time, and that plugging the phone in as you go to bed is what was harming mine. This I can't back up, but she was on the money with my other problem so she may be right?

Good luck
