Could have bad pyo switch or pto clutch.make sure every thing turns freely, blades and pullys then unplug clutch and try to enguage if does not blow fuse check clutch with meter. put meter on ohms probe one terminal and other on ground via clutch housing should not have continuety check other terminal to ground.voltage goes in one term and out the other like litebulb if potting (insulator) in clutch is melted wire inside will short on housing.hope this helps

Troy-Bilt Colt XP. Start engine and begin mowing and everything is fine. After a few swipes on the yard, 2-3 minutes, PTO shuts off. turn off and back on works shortly. PTO clutch getting hot???

electric pto clutches get HOT (not warm) for only a few reasons
(1) worn out friction disks inside
(2) foreign object(s) not allowing clutch to fully engage a good blast of high pressure air knocks out most stuff , if let go to long this leads to 1st reason

I have a ariens zoom 1540 mower it runs fine but the blades wont engage to mow. It worked when i put away after last mowing and 2 days later it doesnt. Ive checked the wires off pto switch and they seem...

You've checked the wiring to the PTO and it looks OK. Does the PTO engage when the switch is thrown? Do you have a multi meter , so you can trace the voltage to the switch, from the switch to the PTO. You also should check the safety switch (s) which will prevent the PTO from engaging if there is a faulty switch. And it could simply be a fuse that has blown.

Blown fuses when mowing

you have a wire that is shorting out somewhere, i would trace the wires from the clutch all the way back to the fuse including the relay and pto switch. You will more than likely find your problem in the control circuit between the fuse, pto switch and relay since this is what is fuse protected.

I have a Husqvarna Yth 180, the lawn mower shut off when I engage the blades to cut grass. I blows the 20 amp fuse near the wire harness

try unplugging the pto then start the mower next engage the blades and see if the fuse blows if it does the problem lies in the mowers wiring if not the problem lies in the pto. hope this helps

The electric clutch on my cub cadet lt1045 does not stay running

I had the exact same issue early this mowing season on a LT1045 with 184 hours on it. On a wild hunch I lifted the seat and simply sprayed the PTO shut-off safety switch with electronic contact cleaner/enhancer and have had to problems since.
