Sony DCR-HC40E Tape Holder Mechanism load failure

I have a Sony DCR-HC40E for a few years now, recently I tried to load a tape into the camcorder but the mechanism seems to open but will not load into the camcorder.

So, now even without the tape in the holder is out in the eject mode.
I've considered all options, making sure its fully charged, taking the battery out and putting it back in but with no luck.

Does anyone know if this is something I could fix or is this a mechanism issue?

Regards,
Naeem

the tape loading mechanism is in the "eject" position and will not retract. I have had this problem in the past and it eventually started working again, but this time it does not seem to want to fix itself.

Hi, My Sony DCR-HC32 handycam's tape mechanism is giving me some problem. It ejects and the tape deck opens up properly but after putting a tape and closing it, the tape deck does not go in. I tried with or without tape but it doesn't go in. It is still open.
Can you please suggest how it could be fixed?
Thanks,
Pramod

well if you were to burn them via windows vista, I'm sure you could do that directly from your computer, if not I'd just talk to a real person (custumer service line, a shop etc.)

When i try to use my camcorder there's a flashing light with the eject symbol and it wont record or let me use the video

Flashing eject sign error appears when camcorder got problem in its mechanism, please put another tape and check.
Remove battery from camcorder for couple of minutes, put battery back and try.
Also observe does tape reels turns reverse and forward when tape loaded in mechanism.
If problem still exist, qualified camera tech will fix it because it is not user level repair.

DCR-HC42 will not load Mini DV

Have you all tried using a new battery? It happened to me before where I would try and load the tape and the motor just hung and wouldn't allow the tape to fully go in. I tried to recharge the battery to see if that was the problem and even left it plugged in but camcorder appeared to still be weak. I think went to Wolf's camera and asked if I may if a bigger batter would feel weird with my current camcorder (I just said that so I could see if I could borrow a new battery and see if it would fix the problem). When I installed the new battery, it loaded the tape with no problems.

Try it and tell me if it solves the problem.

That is the "LOAD" error code.

However, to service the C:31 code, Sony recommends you do the following:

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
  3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Turn on the camcorder.
  5. If the error message appears, service may be required.
If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service.

Sony dcr-trv6 unable to load tape in deck

This is a common problem. The code indicates that the sensor for the supply reel has indicated lack of motion. If you have a cleaning tape, try it first because if the head drum hesitates, reel error codes often appear. If this doesn't help you are in for a service situation. There are other electronic failures that can cause false codes and operations in many cases. These usually involve cable connection failure. You still need a qualified servicer. Tape holder of camcorder isnt closing

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.
