Cannot find a code to program Direct TV into my GFM television universal remote control

  • Anonymous Aug 03, 2008

I'm having the same problem. Can't find a code to program my gfm TV. Nothing is working.

  • Anonymous Oct 19, 2008

I bought a 20 inch tv at Meijers the day after thanksgiving last year and my dog chewed up the remote. I was told by a person at Best Buy that these are considered "throw away" televisions. That's why they don't make replacement remotes. I even sent to the company they were going to send me a new one if I sent them the one that my dog chewed up. We sent them the chewed up remote and all they did was send the chewed up one back. They said that we damaged it....duh!

I have a 26in GFM TV, Model MJ477GG (written on the back of the TV). Searching online told me that my remote model was NE601UE.

I used the Emerson Jumbo Universal Remote and the code under Model:Emerson (#189) worked. I can change volume, channels, input mode, access menu, power on/off.

Granddaughter dropped my remote for 26" gfm lcd tv. unit was a gonner. tried 6 different universals with no luck, including 2 gfm models. tried to do without but couldnt stand going from channel 81 to channel 7 using the pushbutton on the set. my 12 year old grandson, jeff, told me to try remotes.com on the web. according to remotes.com, the original remote is no longer manufactured but they do sell a replacement for $39.95. i ordered it and when it came, it had batteries installed and worked right out of the box. no trying diff. codes or anything. what a relief/

It's not the fault of the GFM TV. It's the lazy or incompetent remote makers who are too lazy to update their codes.
The Logitech Harmony 520 Univ Remote had no problem finding code for my 26" GFM model VO7LCD26 hdtv. But, this remote costs about $100 (at Meijer) and is programed via your computer using included dvd software & USB cable, so their codes are fresh daily.
This was after trying Comcast (no help at all), an RCA univ remote that claimed to work on anything (it didn't), and even a GFM brand univ remote !
The Logitech 520 is the only solution I've found.

I will never buy this brand of TV again. You cannot use any other remote with this TV and have full functionality except for the OEM replacement which is 30 bucks. Too much for the amount I paid for this TV. I will just go and buy a new one from another company.

Customer service doesn't even offer to replace. They send you right to Remotes.com to purchase a new remote.

I am upset because I cannot use my cable remote now and without the OEM I cannot access the AUX channels, so it is only good for hooking up to an old VCR.

I have a gfm 42" LCD 1080p TV and the code that worked for me was the Sylvania TV 0502 code for a Philips Universal remote.

I need a remote code for a rca remote for the olevia remote control can you help

Unfortunately Olevia is one of those t.v. brands that is not compatible with many universal remote controls. They make a Universal Learning Remote specifically available from Olevia on their web site that may solve your problem if your universal remote control turns out not to be compatible with your Olevia television.

As for what codes you can try, there are many, and the codes depend on your universal remote control brand. Many times, an RCA code will work for Olevia televisions, so you should try the RCA codes that come with your universal remote first, before trying any of these other codes.

If you have a Dish Network Universal Remote you can use code 506 or 127.

Direct TV remote codes vary by model number on the remote control, but the following codes work with most Direct TV remotes: 506, 127, 11144, 11240, 11331, 11610

Cable Vision use code 506

Charter and Movie Box remotes you can use 1144 or 1178

Comcast codes are 11144, 11240, 11331, 21075, 10159, 10154, and 10088

Cox code is 1610

Brighthouse remote codes are 1610, 1144, 1240, and 1331

Time Warner remote codes are 1610, 1144, 1240, 1331, 432, and 1610

If none of these brands are what you are looking for as far as your Universal Remote Control is concerned, many universal remote controls will work with Olevia televisions if you use the codes found under the RCA, LG, Phillips, and Yamaha in the code listing included with your remote control.

Each remote manufacturer has their own set of codes. There is not one standard code for your TV. You need to get in touch with the maker of the remote.

For the majority of phillips/magnavox universal remotes: Hold code search button down till red light satys on. Press the tv button and the red light should blink and stay lit. With the tv on, push the power button repeatedly until the tv turns off.(dont push the power button again after the tv turns off or it will go to the next code). Push the mute button to save the setting.
