so how do you get rid of the damn wrench symbol?

  • justin Oct 20, 2010

You can keep using it, not a problem. Service time will require a number of parts and will cost around about $500.00

Pitney bowes c 180 copier red wrench error

The red wrench is a maintenance indicator. Your Pitney Bowes C180 is made by Panasonic and is a model FP7718. I was going to type up the maintenance reset procedure but I will just give you a link to a page that has step by step instructions. Here it is:

Normally the wrench symbol indicates that certain parts are near the end of their usefull life.
Such things as Developer, Drum, Cleaning Blade, possibly also parts in the Fusing unit such as the Heat Roller or Press Roller...this will depend on make and model and the number of copies on the machine.
Think of it like your car, you know that you have to change the oil,Transmission fluid, Brake pads, Tires etc, etc, etc,...but for a time the car is still running OK even tho' these parts are due to be replaced, you can keep driving till your brakes don't work at all, or the engine blows because you didnt change the oil; ...I think you get my meaning....its your choice when you want to do the maintenance...the machine just has an indicator to tell you when IT thinks it has run the appropriate number of copies for certain items to be replaced.

Panasonic FP 1780 Copier. The copier has a flashing wrench that will not reset. I need advice on resetting the wrench.

Hold down 3 buttons in this order:
Paper Tray (Oval button), Recall (Diamond) and #3.
You should see an F2 in the display.
Enter #5 (Display should be showing F5)
Hit the Print Button. (Display should show C00)
Enter 70. (Display should show C70)
Hit the print button. (Display should show probably a 7 or 8)
Hit the print button again. The print button should go Red for a second and then back to green.

Wrench should be gone.

Next to get out of service mode
Hit Clear / stop button until the display shows F5
Then hold down 3 buttons in this order:
Paper Tray, Recall and the Clear Stop button.

You should now be back to working order.

If you have any questions or need parts, feel free to ask.
Have a good day.
Good luck.
Please remember to leave your rating if I have helped you.

Do you know how to explain error code for Panasonic Plain Paper Copier FP-7722 E 7? Our copier locked up...

I believe you have a temperator warm up issue, when does the error ocuur after initially turning on, if it's within 120 seconds or less it's probably a fuse if after it's probably a lamp.

\Thank You,

Mikey
