I get a slow blinking light that fades in and out. I am using a parallel connection.

  • Thriftywhite Apr 30, 2008

There looks like this and it blinks every 6 seconds.

  • Thriftywhite Apr 30, 2008

I am not sure I quite understand what you want me to try given the error code that i attached.

  • Thriftywhite Apr 30, 2008

I did recheck the auto cutter and it is okay. The error has a solid red light and then blinks once every 6 seconds

Yep try to check the autocutter on your unit.

Here are the patterns and error indicators

blinks 6 times and turns off

    1. receipt cover open
    2. slip printing receipt cover is open
    3. card ejection error

    blinks every 6 seconds on-

printer head temperature- turn it off for an hour, then turn it back on.

auto cutter if it blinking 6 times continuously and turns off then blinks again after 6 seconds

Get the memory utility from this link: EPSON
you will have to register first so that you can get a username and password. then go to technical resources and select printer model

************Some info if your getting cover sensor errors

    Printer Cover Sensors
    Receipt section
❏ Paper roll cover open sensor:
    • When a paper roll is selected as the print sheet, if the sensor detects a cover open during
printing, the printer goes offline, stops printing immediately, and the ERROR LED
blinks. Even if the cover is closed, the ERROR LED still blinks. You need to transmit the
    error recovery command to recover.
If the printer continues printing, it starts printing from the beginning of the line where
the error occurred; therefore, double printing or printing position shift may occur. It is
recommended to clear the buffers and resend the print data.
    • When a slip is selected as the print sheet, if the sensor detects a cover open during
printing, the printer finishes printing data for the line when the cover open is detected,
then stops the carriage movement and goes offline. The printer goes online when the
cover is closed and restarts printing.
    ❏ Unit cover open sensor:
    • When the sensor detects a unit cover open during printing, the printer goes offline
depending on the setting of bit 8 for the memory switch.
The default is that the printer finishes printing data for the line when the cover open is
detected and stops printing. The printer goes online when the cover is closed and
    restarts printing.
If a recoverable error is selected by memory switch, the printer goes offline, stops
printing immediately and the ERROR LED blinks. Even if the cover is closed, the
ERROR LED still blinks. You need to transmit the error recovery command to recover. If
the printer continues printing, it starts printing from the beginning of the line where the
error occurred. In this case, double printing or printing position shift may occur. It is
recommended to clear the buffers and resend the print data.

    Front cover open sensor:
    • When the sensor detects a cover open during printing, the printer finishes printing data
for the line when the cover open is detected, then stops the carriage movement and goes
offline. The printer goes online when the cover is closed and restarts printing.

I guess it lacks either a thermal roll or something's wrong.. like.. error code? check your printer software, usually displays an error code or says what the problem is

Epson r230 general error

Blink alternately or not? If alternately, the message is not "general error". but "service required" It's true to reset waste ink counter. But, i think it's not service required. when trun on printer ready? But when start to print red lights blink at same time? Problem with chip at ink tank. Check connector at chip and at head carriage. It's may be dirty, and not good connection. try to use another chip.

Epsom TM-U220 Error Codes

From the manual its probably one of this item.
-printer temp is too high

-cover is not properly closed
-print head is not in the correct position
-paper cutter is not in the correct position
-paper jam

Try turning off the printer, remove the power cable, turn it on again for 5 seconds to reset it. Connect back power cable, press the feed button and turn it back on. The printer should do a self test, turn it off and on again after the self test. It should make the red light go away.
