dryer works at my brother in laws house but not drying here. He changed outlet and cord.

I have the same problem. I believe the fuses the manual refers to are you house fuses. If one leg of the 240 VAC power is out, the motor could run but the dryer would not produce heat.

I'm trying to figure out how to get into the unit with out making a mess of it. I'm guessing it's either the heating element, the high limit thermostat or the heater relay. The problem is figuring out where these parts live in the machine so I can test them.

The manual says it could be one of the two house fuses in the unit. My question is where are they located .

I have the same dryer that is about five weeks old and the heater element went bad or thats what the repair person had told me. still waiting for parts to come in. still under warranty. As the fuse goes it's your circuit breaker(s) if you have or what should be used a combined breaker which will trip both circuits at the same time. The fuses are not inside this unit or not like older dryers which did have internal fuses (some models) You can go to frigidaires wesite and download the service/repair manuals in PDF form.

Dryer running but not heating. How do I check heating element?

Check the following to address this non heating issue

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
