Question about Operating Systems

1 Answer

Device drivers Found lots of software to scan my PC for up to date drivers, but though they all claim to be 'free' none of them are. Yes they'll tell you which devices need an updated driver but then require you to pay for the new driver. Are any of them honest and free means free, to check and to update.

Need operating system help for Dell 433/l

Yes, sorry Bryan. Sounds like the hard drive on that computer finally failed. Since the machine is so old, you'd have to purchase an IDE Hard Drive which you'll probably have to purchase online. Secondly, you'd have to do a full reinstall of Windows on this new drive. Lastly, you'll have to locate an install the software that was controlling your furnaces. Sounds like an awful lot of work. I wish you the best of luck.

Need a driver for web cam 251-6506

I cant seem to find a free driver for your webcam. So I'll give some options of what you can do.

1st option is this.

LINK

Go to the link above and click the download button. its an easy way to download your driver, but the sad news is you have to pay for it for almost $3 . you can pay it by Paypal or using your credit/debit card.

2nd Option is this:

LINK 2
  • The second option is to download the software in the link above and install it to your PC.
  • Run the program and click Scan to start scanning for installed devices. (You must connect first your webcam before starting the scan in order for the software to detect your webcam.)
  • Now after the scan is finished, browse for your webcam device ( If you can't find it, it might be marked as Others)
  • Now once you've found your webcam device, click the download button to start downloading the driver. ( I'm not sure if it will find the driver for your device just try to download it first )
  • Now once the download is finished, click the install button beside the download button to install the downloaded driver.
  • After installing I suggest that you restart your computer before doing anything.
  • Do not remove the webcam while you restart.
  • Now once your PC has rebooted, try using your webcam and it should working by that time.
Goodluck, Hope my solution will help you. Please give me feedback if my solution worked for you, and if what option worked for you. thanks.

Thank you for using Fixya!Have a great day. =)

No sound on laptop think it got deleted by mistake . how can i fix this ?

To fix audio problems, you need to find and install the latest drivers that perfectly match your audio device.

1. To find the latest audio drivers, you need to know your PC brand and model, your Windows® operating system, your audio device brand and model, and the current audio driver installed on your PC.

2. After this, you now have to start the laborious, time-consuming, and headache-inducing task of trying to find the most up-to-date audio driver and save it on your PC. And then you need to uninstall your old driver, and install the new driver you found.

3. You need to ensure that this new driver works 100% with your Windows® version and other hardware devices.

My drivers are out of date so. please describe me that how to update all my drivers.

There exists some "scareware" that claims that your "drivers are out of date".

If the current device-drivers are working correctly, RESIST the urge to "tweak" them, and possibly BREAK your computer.

The only exception I would make is the video-card device-drivers -- some of these device-drivers occasionally are updated, to resolve issues that apply to many customers.

When I turn it on and select music it gives me a "file system error"I tried selecting other functions but it gives me the same error message. Do I need to re-load the drivers? If so where can I find the...

Probably .... though it depends what sound card or chipset you have ... There are many...

If your PC was working fine until recently ... and you use XP ... Go to START .. Accessories... SYSTEM TOOLS and Choose 'Restore' You can restore your computer to an earlier date (the dates will be shown in BOLD for you to choose from)

Failing that, and you don't know what sound card or chipset you have, go to a webiste like http://www.driverdownloadcenter.com/ddtdowntwo.html?msnUKS&match=e&searchwords=driver%20detective&adnumber=202789854 and see if it will identify and download (for free..) your drivers.

Or search for 'driver detective' and downloadf it. No need to pay .. it will scan your pc and tell you what drivers are missing or need updating. Note down the drivers you need when Driver Detective finishes the scan, thewn do a google search for them.

You'll fix it in due course without having to pay ..

And if you know the name-type of your sound card .. visit the manufacturers website. They usually have downloadable drivers (and Cnet.com .. driverguide.com etc..)

hi there toshiba are only supplying vista drivers for your laptop however there is a way to get the right sound driver you need to find out what model is your sound card the best way to do that is to download a free software called AIDA32 once installed on your laptop it should tell you what model your sound card is then just go on the sound card's manufacturer's website and download the right driver i think yours sounds like realtek. another way of finding out is to go to www.driveragent.com it scans your laptop and tells you what drivers are up to date and what are not it also tell you which drivers are missing and gives you a link to download the right ones this is not a free service but it's good value for the money i use it all the time never let me down good luck
