Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players

I pluged my nanopod into my computer, but the computer is not "recognizing" that it is plugged in. My nanopod works otherwise. I plugged my i-pod into my computer, and the computer recognizes my ipod fine--it's just my nano taht I cannot get my computer to recognize.

I should note that I have Windows XP and a 1GB nano.Again, the nanopod works fine except that since my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in, I thus cannot update it.

  • Poundie Apr 30, 2008

I don't know, I just tried it on my own computer.

  • Poundie Apr 30, 2008

I tried that already and it did not work. I should note that my ipod works fine, it is just my nano that has this problem (I never had this problem with it before today) which suggests that the problem is not with the computer or the cables.

  • Poundie Apr 30, 2008

I just tried that, you had instructred. The probem is My Computer is not recognizing the nanopod t al. WHen I plug my ipod in, it shows up as a disc in the My Computer folder; when I plug m nanopod in, it does not. Thus when I did what you told me, the nanopodi not show up at all, so I could not find it (again when I put the ipod it, it was found right away) and thus I could not change its letter or paths.

<< left click on it > double left click on disk management > when you find the nanopod right click on it > left click on change letter and paths > click on change. Now you can change to the letter you want other than C. D or E, try Z fro example.
    Good Luck.>>

    <<>>

I will try this and get back to you.

    >>>If the nanopod came with the driver, I would suggest to install the driver first and try again.>>

I believe the driver for the nanopod was on the nanopod itself. Is there a way I can download a driver for it? But then again, if the driver was defective, shouldn't my computer recognize that a new unrecognized device was plugged into the USB port?

    >>>>If none of the suggestions work, you might have a defective device.

    How old is the nanopod?>>>
The nanopod is about a year and a half old.

  • Poundie Apr 30, 2008

I tried my nanaopod with another computer, and it still did not work (my ipod worked with the other computer, however). Clearly, something is wrong with my nanopod that prevents it from being recognized by the computers.

I tried playing my nanopod (that works) and when I plug it into the USB port on the computer, it says "charging" so it seems to be connected to the maching somehow. But even after it finished charging, the computer is not acknowledging that the nanopod is plugged in.

<<<If you dare to open it and check for a loose connection where the USB is.
If you find a loose connection there, you will need to hand solder it.>>>
I wouldn't know how to open it, nor do I have the tools. I suppose I would have to go to somebody who can fix nanopods; how much would it cost, do you suppose, or should I just buy a new one?

You will need to assign a different letter to the nanopod. Plug it in and follow the next steps:
Right click on my computer go down to manage > left click on it > double left click on disk management > when you find the nanopod right click on it > left click on change letter and paths > click on change. Now you can change to the letter you want other than C. D or E, try Z fro example.
Good Luck.

I would suggest to try using a different computer just to isolate the problem to the nanopod.

If the nanopod came with the driver, I would suggest to install the driver first and try again.

If none of the suggestions work, you might have a defective device.

    How old is the nanopod?

  • Jaime Hernandez Apr 30, 2008

The device should be recognize once is plug into the USB port. The only time when the computer will not detect the new device is when there is not power circulating through the nanopod.

  • Jaime Hernandez Apr 30, 2008

The final conclusion is that the nanopod is defective.

If you dare to open it and check for a loose connection where the USB is.

If you find a loose connection there, you will need to hand solder it.

  • Jaime Hernandez Apr 30, 2008

I would say that not many technicians might want to fix it, because the repair might cost you more than buying a new one.

    Good Luck.

My zune 120 , will not connect to my pc, it tells me "to update software"

First step is to let it drain completely and then plug it in once fully dead to see if it resets itself and clears the problem. If that doesn't work the next step
Soft Reset: Plug it in to the computer. If the computer recognizes it you can likely reset it. to do that push and holding the back and up buttons together. Even if not recognized try doing this.
Hard Reset: this will erase the information on your zune and restore it to factory settings with no information on it. Your information will be re-synced when you plug it back in to your comptuer.

My player is pluged in, but when I try to synx, it says connect a device

The computer is not recognizing the device plugged in or the software that use to sync needs to be reinstalled. I would 1. check and see if the computer is recognize the unit if it is then try backing up and reinstalling your software.
Thanks I hope this helps please rate me using the thumbs above thanks.

Make sure your not pluged into a USB hub. It will work if its plugged directly into a USB port on your computer.

Computer doesn't recognize unit when connected

I am guessing there is a problem with the driver for the audio player. I have a Coby Audio Player MP-C827, and one day my brother decided to just remove it from the computer without correctly stopping it. Ever since, whenever I plug in it into my PC, it just does not open...nothing happens. And I don't have the cd to re-install the driver files. With respect to all of the above, a driver file which is needed by the mp3 is either damaged or corrupt. Contact me at ramone.williams89@gmail.com
