Question about Polaroid FLM-3732 Television

CRAZY LOUD SOUND AND NO PICTURE

I own my FLM-3732 since the end of February 2007 and as soon as the warranty expire the TV come up with all the different problem.
When you turn it on I have no Video and only a crazy loud sound. Trying to shout down the unit doesn't make any good, I need to unplug it and try again from the beginning. After 5 or 6 of this trial I finally get the Polaroid Logo and the video, but still the sound is only Loud Noise. To hear something I need to put the audio from the TV in Mute and use my surround system.
I check on the web and I notice that Polaroid knows about this since back in March 2007 but didn't make any recall or comments about it. It seams that some model have been shipped out with faulty Control Box.
When I called Customer service I receive an option of buying a replace TV for 495 US$ + Shipping. on top of this I was suppose also to pay to ship back mine, Total 650 US$. I told the customer representative that this was clearly a Joke. Now I sent an e-mail to the VP of Customer Service/Quality Control. I will keep posting news and update if something got resolved.

    We have the same problem as buyer 74 we have all been taken by Polaroid!

    My Polaroid is having the same issue. I turned it off last night. This
    morning it powers on to a flickering blue light and a hissing sound
    from the tv.. I call support and its just outside of warranty just like
    the rest of you were told. I was told it's the control module.. Very
    suspicious that we are all having the issue "just outside" of warranty
    expire... It had worked fine up until this point.. I actually reccomended this TV to friends... Now I regret doing so...

    Look up for Kvam post. He give me the solution to my problem, I received a new control module from Polaroid. Install it yourself will take probably 5 minutes, there are only 3 screw holding it to the LCD back pannel, very very easy.

    I was out of warranty for little bit over 2 months, e-mail the VP of quality and receive the module a week later.

    Same problem, loud sound, not hissing but high pitch that distorts the TV colors. Problem has become worse and now freezes TV. Problem last until TV is warm. Then wife shuts if of and turns back on, however, It will get worse I am told and TV will not work at all and maybe damage TV. How does one order the module, any idea what it costs

We have a polaroid too and same problem, we are in the first week of this problem so im sure it will get worse

Screeching sound and display of color bars with no picture


it is two 1000uf 10 volt capacitors on the power board. the tops of the
capacitors will look like they are bulging. total cost of parts around
five dollars. if you can use a soldering iron and have a half hour to
spare this will fix it .there are alot of polaroid customers that have had

Buzzing sound


Hello, This is a problem with the switching transformer or the ballast used to fire the backlight. You will have to replace the ballast and or the switching transformer soon. the noise is probably due to bad caps-stiv0 has tips on how to change capacitors. I had the same noise and tv would come on after plugging and unplugging but eventually stopped coming on. I just changed the caps and now it works perfect and took approx. an 1hour and supplies cost approx. $10.00. Good Luck

Loud noise


Bad capacitors. See the "how too" to replace the bad capacitors and it'll work fine again.

Constant humming/buzzing noise


I purchased a poloroid tv 3732 in may of 2005 from circuit city, after about 14 months the set began making a clacking sound and humming sound that gets so loud it is unbareable. I have to turn the set off. I have found out I am not the only one with this problem that has a poloroid tv. I had a technician at my home that told me there is a service warranty on these sets because the wrong part was used and the part needs to be replaced.
