Rundll32.exe is an important process of your windows operating system. The process rundll32.exe executes dll files and puts their libraries into your system's memory. Without this process your computer would become instable and very slow.
If a virus, such as the Netsky, destroys your rundll32.exe or, if for some other reason, your rundll32.exe is corrupt or gets accidentally removed, you need to take the following action:
Locate a Copy of Rundll32.exe on Your System
Check if you find a copy of rundll32.exe in the folder C:\windows\system32\dllcache or in C:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386. If this is the case, go ahead and copy rundll32.exe to the system folder C:\windows\system32
First of All Run a System Repair Tool to Fix Rundll32.exe
There are various tools available on the Internet that scan, analyze, and fix your computer. Besides fixing your rundll32.exe, these tools will remove any registry errors, remove invalid shortcuts and duplicate files, repair DLL files, and remove startup and runtime errors.
A recomended tool is registry cleaner, it will fix your registry keys, defrage it and cleans the errors for you

Error rundll32

at pc? more info? i think wrong section ^_^

What is rundll32.exe (rundll32.exe error)?
rundll32.exe (rundll32.exe error) Description: Rundll32.exe is a program which would have been on your pc since the day you purchased your pc. Always verify the exact disk location as many virus and spyware writers will attempt to fool you by using a similiar name or same name in a different location. This file is part of the Microsoft Windows operating system. Rundll32.exe will actually execute functions in DLLs. If you are deleting files on your computer as a spyware removal protection method, then note that this is a required system file. Note that rundll32.exe can also be running many different other DLL or EXE programs, so you may want to check the programs listed after it in your startup list also, as these may be executed by it. Rundll32.exeis considered safe and is not spyware, adware, or virus related and does not need to be removed.
rundll32.exe error: rundll32.exe error. Be sure to always double check your spelling if you are concerned about spyware, as often spyware will use a very similiar spelling of system processes or other common tasks. rundll32.exe error

Click here to remove rundll32.exe virus

remove rundll32.exe virus: Remove rundll32.exe virus. Remember that although many files are always in default file locations, some files can easily be moved to different locations or change names like many spyware, adware, or popup programs do. If you suspect you have spyware or adware, check to see if you see a similiar names stored elsewhere. It always helps to check your tasklist also to see what is currently running on your computer. You can always view the tasklist on your computer by pressing ctrl-alt-del to view your "task manager", and then click the "processes" tab. This will show you all tasks running on your computer. Dll files will NOT show on your computer tasklist, as dll files are actually part of other processes. You may see similiar program names running if spyware or adware is on your computer, for example, ati2evxx.exe may be slightly misspelled to keep you from finding it, or spyware and adware may be named very similiar to a system file. Make sure always check the location of tasks or processes if you are concerned.Remove rundll32.exe virus
rundll32.exe Common Path(s): This will be found in your windows\system32 folder. You will see it starting up programs like: RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINNT\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

In windows vista ultimate 64 bit. most of the items in my control panel will not open up. I get this message. c:\windowssystem32 undll32.exe file name or extension is to long. can you please help me. jim

body { background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 4px; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; } p { margin:0px; padding:0px; } .spwrap { background: transparent url(../wysiwyg_rte_2/misspell.gif) repeat-x scroll center bottom; } hi

The rundll32.exe process is responsible for running DLLs and placing its libraries in the memory. The rundll32.exe process is known as a command line utility program, and it performs its embedded functions along with the rundll.exe file. Rundll32.exe works by invoking a function that is exported from a specific 16-bit or 32-bit DLL module. However the only DLLs that you can call with the rundll.exe and rundll32.exe files are the ones that are only specified to be accessed by these processes.
The rundll32.exe file operates by parsing the command line. The specified DLL is then loaded through the function LoadLibrary(). Afterwards, from the function , it gets the addresses through GetProcAddress(). The command line tail is passed when the is called. Next, the DLL is unloaded upon the return of . Finally, the rundll32.exe file exits. We strongly recommend that you run a FREE registry scan to identify rundll32.exe related errors.
if you have any question or any futher assistance you can get back to me on fixya for same

When i turn on my pc i get the message "windows host process (rundll32) has stopped working.

Try a system restore if you can to before this occured

OTHERWISE

Please follow these instructions to check which software is causing this issue:

1. Click on Pearl (Start Button), in the serach box type:

msconfig

and hit the enter key on the keyboard. It should open the System Configuration Utility window.

2. Click on Services over the top and then at the bottom right corner, put a check in the "Hide all Microsoft services" checkbox.

3. Click on "Disable All" button.

4. Click on "Startup" tab, and then click on "Disable All" button again.

5. Press OK button and then "Restart" button on the following window. Let the computer restart.

6. Once you're back on the desktop, you'd get a window for System Configuration Utility. Put a check in the box "Don't Show....." and then press OK button.

7. Now, once again check the issue. If the issue is resolved, open System Configuration Windows again and then enable all the services from Services tab and then check the issue after restarting the computer in the same way as mentioned above.

8. If issue is still resolved, enable half of the Startup items from Startup tab and then check issue.

9. If issue occurs again, it means, there's a culprit in the checked startup items. But if issue doesn't occur, then issue could be with rest of the Startup items. Now, uncheck the first half startup items (that were check before), and then check rest of the half items. Check the issue again.......

10. Now, if the issue occurs, then make a note of all the names of the startup items and then follow the same procedure, for them. Now, you need to be careful, as by design the System Configuration will sort all the enable startup items to the top. So, it means all the entries would be mixed on next reboot. From now on you need to make a note of all the entries that you're enabling or disabling........

Windows Explorer sends continuously error messages

Turning off thumbnails will probably stop you getting that error

DO:
Open Control Panel > Folder Options > Always show Icons, Never Thumbnails

However, this isn't actually fixing the problem.

Do you have Nero installed by any chance?

If so try:
Open Computer > System Drive > Program files > Common Files > Ahead > DSfilter.
Rename "NeroVideoProc.ax" to "1NeroVideoProc.ax"
Also rename "NeVideo.ax" to "1NeVideo.ax"

And then reboot.

I have vista on my computer and when i try using windows movie maker i get a window which says windows host process(rundll32) has stoped working it then closes down movie maker. can you suggest a cure for...

Run.dll is father of all dlls which controls Control panel , Host application process and if it get corrupted better to reinstall or restore your system. If you know how to restore the dll you can do that way also but not sure the version of run.dll you are copying in to windows system32 files might match.

Secure all your wanted data before you try to do anything above I mean first you back your wanted files.

Windows host process rundll32 has stopped running in Vista System

OMG! there are tons of reasons NOT to use the geek squad. I get geek squad victims in my shop every week. This can probably be figured out remotely- but if it came from BB- I would just about BET it is norton, or spysweeper as the root of the problem, or perhaps an incompatable program on Vista. There might be a problem with the motherboard too- and checking on Dell's site to see if your unit is in warranty will yield a free tech support from thm if the service tag shows a valid warranty. If replacing Norton and spysweeper with a less problematic program like AVG FREE edition (which works a lot better and is FREE!) does not help- there are other cheaper local or nationwide helpers that can fix this remotely (like me)
