I have a WMA56 and need to find the filter as when I put on a wash it stinks of egg!

Unfortunately it's not egg nog, as that would be fine because that would mean I could drink it.

Can someone please tell me where the hell the filter is and how to access it?

I cant find the filter on my aquarius either, but i just read somewhere that this egg smell is probably caused by u mostly running the machine on cool washes i.e 40' ? so its suggests u run the machine on a 95' empty wash using ure normal detergent 2-3 times a year as the smell is a build up of bacteria because your washes arent hot enuff to kill it. If ure egg smell is bad, i'd do the empty hot wash thing a couple of times to make sure ! hope this makes sense?! :)

Where is the elusive filter located? I thought it was hiding under the flap thing at the bottom but I can't for the life of me work out where it is

If you were to Google "Hot point first edition FEW manual" using Firefox, the results will lead you to "for Hotpoint FEW washer - Laundry Appliances Manuals" at "laundry.manuals online.com>....> Hotpoint Washer".
Download a free copy of the instructions for Installation and Use for Hot Point First Edition Range User Manual.
I have looked through the manual and there is no direct evidence of a filter as such (common to other machines), but there are details of what maintenance should be followed to clean the machine - not too user friendly but may help.
If you do go to the manufacturers website (Hot point is an Indesit company) you will find that previous buyers have asked the same question as you)

Hotpoint first edition automatic washing machine washes clothes .

I've got a Hotpoint First Edition WM52 that stopped spinning at the end of the wash cycle. Called the repair man and he said it was most likely just the filter blocked? Suggested I reemove the front base panel and try to locate the filter remove, clean and replace. Front panel wouldn't come off, base panel at the rear, 6 screws to remove revealing a black squeezy hose with slide grips holding them on, on removal of the hose two ten pence pieces, a one pence piece and a childs hair clip blackened with dirt sat blocking the top of the hose.
Hope this helps; repair man saved me £58+vat just with a few words and a bit of persistence from myself
