The router is not remmebering my user name or password

You may have to resent the router for that purpose! User name and password are usually default for each router. If you have not set up a user name or password try default admin in password section and leave user name blank. If you have set up a user name and password and forgot now then you may have to reset the router by pressing reset button on back of router for 30 to 60 seconds which brings back factory default settings for the router!

The easiest way to recover entry to your router is to hard reset the router by using the tip of a pen and pushing it into the reset button on the router for at least 15 seconds. The router should then reset to defaults, which includes the user name and password.
The default user name and password should be listed somewhere on the router. If it isn't, then search online with your router's model number to find the default user name and password and default IP address. For example:
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Username: admin
password: password

Your router may be different but it should be somewhat similar to my example.

Router's password could mean 2 things. First password for you to open router's configuration page or password for you to connect wireless to your router.

Configuration's password:
-Logon to your router configuration page
-Please to the TOOLS and ADMIN Tab. You there you can change the admin user name and password. If you do not have the user name and password, please check for the default user name and password on the router's manual. If default user name and password won't work reset the router. Press and hold down the reset button or pinhole on the back of the router for 10 seconds. Then re-enter user name and password again. It should work this time.

Wireless Security Password:

-Logon to your router configuration page
-Under SETUP and Wireless Settings tab you will get an option to change the wireless password

There is a reset button on the back of the router; just use a paperclip to poke it. Then the default settings will be restored, and the username/password should both be admin

Plug the router into the power socket and configure you own machine to obtain IP address automatically. Load up Internet explorer and type in http:/192168.xxx.xxx which is the local address of your router. You should then get a password screen. Enter default user name and password and it will take you to the configuration screen. The full IP address and user name and password are dependant on which model you have. See list below From there you need to read the instructions very carefully and match it with the information provided by your ISP.

Open up an Internet browser window on your computer system. some of the router have fixed Username and you can only change the password.

You need to visit your router's web interface at http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 (whichever works with your router)

If you are prompted with the password, then use these defaults:
user name = admin
password = <leave blank>
OR
user name = admin
password = admin
OR
user name = <blank>
password = admin
