Question about Acer Aspire 5610-4648 Notebook

1 Answer

Pesysd@hotmail.com Hi. I recently bought an acer aspire 5720 that came with vista home premium. I repartitioned my hard drive and deleted the pqservice (hidden) partition. After that i installed vista ultimate and then I tried to install acer erecovery but i got the following message: "not d2d system, erecovery cannot be istalled". D2D recovery is enabled in bios and i haven't any recovery disks. Acer support site says that erecovery needs a specific partitioning structure to work, so i thought that creating a partition with the same size as the pqservice partition (around 10 GB in my model) at the beggining of the hard drive erecovery could work. So i use acronis disk director to do that but i have the same result. Please tell me if there is a way to install erecovery. thanks paulo

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

The restore disk should be available from Acer Suppport here https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=acer if they no longer support it then you should be able to get it from restoredisks.com

Acer aspire 5720

thats because Acer put their own screen saver on when building them, it's not part of windows.

I'm sure a google search will come up with an Acer screen saver

Not Recognized?

Hi,
The device driver is causing a conflict with the system. If you have got any specific cd with hardrive install the driver from the cd. Otherwise , i would suggest try changing he manufacturer of the hdd and get a new one. If you have recently bought it.
Otherwise try creating a new account in windows vista on your computer and then try plugging in the drive

You'll probably find this website most useful. This website was designed for users who want to dualboot that already have XP on their machine. There is a link to a how-to for users who already have Vista installed and want XP also. Good luck and I hope this helps.

ACER Aspire 5720

Hi All,

We are a workshop in Spain & I have had several problems with "Down grading" to XP. There is essentially one problem which causes an issue with the XP installation & that is if the the BIOS has a "Fixed" sata configuration. By that I mean you cannot change it to some sort of IDE or P-ATA (Symantics). Our current problems are with an Acer 5720 & an HP Pavilion DV9700. The Acer solution is exactly as "kraken3000" had mentioned before:
1. On POST (Powerup). enter BIOS by pressing F2
2. Tab along to the second option "Main"
3. Goto last option "SATA mode" & press enter.
4. From the small selection display select "IDE mode"
5. Save & exit the BIOS. This will then set the SATA mode for XP to be recognise.

DONOT set this back to SATA Mode after you install the XP as it will NOT boot. This setting must be kept untill you "Upgrade" (If ever) to Vista. The HP is another story...

Visit the Acer Panam site & download & install the XP drivers & your good to go...

I hope that this was of help...& good luck folks
