Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator
Water overflows ice tray
There is an orifice that controls the water flow to the ice maker . If to much water is being fed to the ice maker it will result in an overflow. You may want to check the pressure of the water system in your house.
If the overflow is being caused by a continuous feed to the ice maker your electric valve supplying the water may not be reseating after it shut off electrically. If this is your problem obtain a new valve assembly to replace it.

SOURCE: Ice maker overflows with water
yes, in fact the icemaker does meter the amount of water delivered to the icemaker, the valve should only be energized for 7 seconds. after that the power is cut off, so if valve continues to let water flow, it's bad (might have debris from water line keeping it open. unserviceable. )

There is nothing wrong with the icemaker if infact it is "overflowing". Be carefull not to confuse "overflowing" with the ice maker leaking. Nevertheless, if the icemaker is "overflowing" with water and is still making "BIG" ice cubes then you need to replace the water valve located behind the refrigerator in the compressor department. Hint: it is blue.... Also, you may want to hire an appliance person to do this for you. Should cost around $200 to have fixed.... goodluck..
Note: If you determine that the icemaker is not "overflowing" but instead is "leaking" water then you need to replace icemaker instead of water valve. One more tid bit of information for you, Its bad when I can look at the model number and know EXCATLY what your fridge looks like! This GE fridge will give you cooling problems in the near future. Turn off during thunderstorms, too many flicker's of electricty will burn up the computer board on your fridge costing you around $400 big ones..
