Verizon FIOS Motorola 6200-2 HD box remote freezes

When I turn on the box, remote light would stay on, clock would freeze and I have to unplug it to clear the HD FIOS box (It does not happen to SD box). After reset it would work all day until the next morning. Verizon has replaced the box but it still happens. No changes were done to the wiring and all was working for a year before problem occured.

Same Problem here... no luck for a solution. the FIOS guy said it was heat related.... but even if i leave my cabinet open and the box off it still locks up

I am now on my third set top box, and I am totally disgusted with this experience. Verizon acts like they have never seen this problem before, but if you do any research online, you find plenty of people with the same issues. I am ready to go back to Directv. The picture quality of FIOS is the only thing going for it as far as I am concerned.

The Verizon FIOS HD service with the Motorola 6200 HD box has some major issues, just got a new one last week, worked for one week then started the, “freeze problem”. Also the box cooks at around 120 deg F with nothing turned on, just plugged in. I spent a total of 3 hours with Verizon phone service with them trying their service repair phone fix, where they do their ping-pong thing with the box in hopes to unfreeze it, which only works for one day, tops. No luck, sending it back and switching to Comcast HDTV. Verizon phone service is so overwhelmed with calls they now have a 20 minute automated phone service repair scheme where they do their same ping-pong thing. If that does work you are on hold for another 30 to 40 minutes waiting to speak to a live person who does the ping-pong thing again, what a joke ! They want you to take your time and fix their problem that they have with their equipment. They have some major technical and service issues. I would not recommend that you buy their stock or services.

I have the same problem. I have been through so many boxes and have figured out that the remote is causing the problem becuase I have it set to turn on the box then the tv. The problem is that there is no way to turn both of them on and off without having the remote programmed that way and for some reason, the box just doesn't like that!

    1. Since we changed from satelite to fios, the picture freezes 2to 5 times a day. They changed the box twice, but it is still happen.Verizeon people said it is the tv so they went on.On the way to buy a new tv ,2 technichens told me it is defenetly a fios problem ,and they know about it.

I did not buy a new tv.It still freezes.I have to wait for the right time frame for

investing an other hrs on the phone with Verizon.

I use a Harmony 880 to control my entire setup.  Prior to the last DVR firmware "upgrade" ( I use the term loosly) everthing was controlled fine.  Now however when I use the Watch PVR activity on my remote the remote control light comes on and stays solid, freezing the box and requiring me to unplug the box to reset it.  The work around I have found is to put my hand over the IR transmitter during the begin stages of the activity, and then pulling it away after I count to 3 or so, so my TV, Stereo, and other devices will turn on and be tuned to the proper inputs.  Then I press help go through the menu to the  "Did your PVR turn on? " prompt and choose no and voila it will turn on.

So the problem for me is definately something in the IR command that the Harmony is sending during the activity.  If I use the remote that came with it or issue just a simple on command it works.  Logitech hasn't been able to help nor Verizon because they just say they don't support 3rd party remotes.

The funny thing to me is it worked fine before they changed the firmware in the latest feature upgrade?

Anyways if anyone knows a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

We swtiched to FIOs and now our Harman Kardon receiver won't switch between HD and local channels. Had FIO's come and switch out the boxes. We did a Harman upgrade, which was suppose to solve the problem and it did not.

I'm a verizon employee currently working at a customer's house. just swapped out 3rd 6200 stb, the channels will seemingly change on their own(scrolling) after pressing the remote just a few times. the root of the problem is that the remote is not responding to the stb in the first place properly. all i can figure is that there is some type of ir interference. i've placed the remote 1" from the stb and the same problem exists. it's not the box and the remote is brand new, tried 3 remotes as well. there is something going on in the atmosphere around the box - in or outside the custmer's house. they were on vacation and when they came back this is the trouble they were having. i don't have an answer, just some type of possibilities. there is a power transformer outside on a pole approx. 100' from the house and we had bad storm related issues in the past week. i know it's a stretch, but you never know. could be surround sound/ stereo equipment generating some kind of field??????????? good luck.

TRY
Unplug receiver.
Leave for 10mins.
Plug in again.
Wait another 10 mins.
Press the hand control stand by button.
In a few minutes the light should turn green and start options should appear.
Good luck. This works when my HD box freezes.

I have a Motorola QIP6200/64xx DVR set-top box thru Verizon

The best code I could find was "007"

"210" kind of works, but can't compete with Mr. Bond.

After programming "007", if there are any features of you FiOS remote that do not work on the HK AVR 354 remote, simply follow the HK AVR 354 manual instructions to "learn" additional commands. See the last paragraph on page 31 through letter "e" on page 32.

Cheers,

HDTV goes blank when connected to Fios HD-DVR or Fios DTV recvr.

If you can first connect the Fios box via component and that will rectify the issue and still allow HD. HDMI is funny, if there is anykind of communication issues between the TV or the Fios box you see what happens. You might also call Samsung to see if there is ANY firmware/software updated for your TV specifically to fix such an issue with the Fios/Mortorola connection. If there isn't then the issue is the cable box since the TV works ok on HDMI with other devices.

Philips TV HDMI CEC EasyLink tries to control Cable set top box

I finally found a fix to this! YAY. I thought I might have to return the TV. I have the Phillips 42PFL5603D, but should work for other models.

On the TV press menu picture settings---picture---dynamic contrast (turn off) AND active control, turn off
If you have Comcast Moto box: on the Cable box go menu--->setup--->cablebox set up---RF BYbass set to ON
If you have a non-Comcast Moto Box, I'm sure there is an RF bypass setting in the menu. You'll just have to look for it. Another fix was close saying to only turn of the active control, but it took all 3 of these for it to work consistently. The latter let it work for all of 30 seconds.

Zoom Function and Verizon Fios TV

On the verizon FIOS tv box, turn the FIOS STB on, and turn on the tv, tap the following buttons on the Verizon FIOS STB )in this order) 1-Power, then Select, then Menu. This will bring up the FIOS STB HD options. Arrow down to 4:3 Bypass and set the bypass option to 480P. Hit power 2 times, once to turn off, second time to turn STB back on. This should on standard channels give you the zoom feature back. This worked on my Samsunf 5053 TV model.
